New 360, PS3 BlazBlue in development

"We'd get booed if it doesn't release."

Japanese developer Arc System Works has confirmed that a brand new PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 BlazBlue game is in development.

The fighting game maker's announced release slate includes Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Portable ports of Japan-only arcade fighting game BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 and PS3 and Xbox 360 ports of Arcana Heart 3.

Now, we can add a brand new home console BlazBlue game to the list.

"We'd get booed if it doesn't release," BlazBlue director Toshimichi Mori told Eurogamer. "So that means yes. We're not saying when, but it will be coming out."

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 is without a European release date, although it will launch on these shores.

It is an enhanced version of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, which launched in Europe last year and scored 8/10 in Eurogamer's review.

Arcana Heart 3 launches here in June as a boxed PS3 and Xbox 360 game – in the US it's a PSN-exclusive download. It has an all female cast, each aligned with an Arcana or elemental that determines their special powers. The classic side-on presentation comes adorned with intricate, vivid, 2D hand-drawn sprites.

Arcana Hearts is a series made by developer Examu and published by Arc System Works.

Fighting game fans consider Arc System Works' now defunct Guilty Gear series to be one of the best in the genre.

The headline made me think that the new consoles had been announced but the PS4 was codenamed 'BlazBlue'.

I bought Blazblue CS on European release... but that meant I was almost 6 months behind the Merkins and the Japanese, so I couldn't get into it. I shall not be purchasing CS2 - what with MvC3 taking the bulk of my time, MK9 looking like the best MK ever released and SF3 Online Edition on it's way, not to mention SSF4:AE DLC as well as Street Fighter x Tekken coming up early next year.

I love this. "We have to release it because the fans want it." Publishing more Japanese games for European gamers; more of this please.

You don't need to use the word 'now' in conjunction with 'defunct' -- something is defunct or it is not.

Anywho, Guilty Gear isn't defunct, it's just that Sammy owns the rights, so Arc can't make any more.

"We'd get booed if it doesn't release"

Nooo, now this intransitive "release" trend has spread to Japan! (Or was is this a translation?)

I am down- I love everything about BlazBlue except the fighting system, which I suck at. But the amount of content, and hilarious stories... totally worth playing.

    "But...Guilty Gear is better"

No, that's your opinion. And Ranger101, nobody cares.

This article is full of inaccuracies. BBCS2 is going to be DLC, not a brand new console release. There is no 'brand new' BlazBlue as of now.
