LEGO Star Wars III gets a date

Kenobi far off now.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will be released in the UK on 18th February, Activision has announced.

This time it's the Clone Wars television series getting the blocky treatment. And there are new gameplay features on offer, too.

You can fight your friends in head-to-head battle, for instance, and play as either Jedi or Separatist forces.

You can control battalions of Clone troopers, throwing them head-first into the droid rank and file in "RTS action LEGO style".

There's even the chance to take to the skies in block-built spaceships and explore 16 star systems. What's more, we're promised "mega" boss battles.

All that and the level editor has been improved.

Oh, there are new Force powers, too.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is in development for DS, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360.

Shopping Maul in.

    Wait, Activision? Huh?

Activision makes sense, I mean it's not based on the films so the charm won't be the same...just milking a franchise again, pretty standard fare.

Ugg having said that, Star wars is still a better fit than the Indy, Batman or Harry Potter franchises and I'll still probably end up getting it. Is this based on the series of 2 minute cartoons that they played during advert breaks or the CGI film? Someone bought me the boxset of the cartoon and it wasn't bad but between the two series it was about an hour long, not really enough for 18 levels worth.

Activision publish LucasArts games over here. LucasArts do it themselves in the US.

Really loved both Lego Indy 2 and Harry Potter, so I might actually pick this up. TT Games seem to really be getting a second wind with them.

Oh no. I literally just finished and got the 100% achievement on the Complete Saga which was probably the most long winded and draining achievement I've ever done...and now they wave this under my nose. Just when I thought I was out etc...

    @Stepharneo
It's based on the first two seasons of the Clone Wars CGI TV show. The film wasn't particularly good, but the show itself has been excellent, especially in the later seasons.

I'm getting this. Loved the complete saga, enjoyed the Indiana Jones games and platinumed Harry Potter... The series isn't as iconic as the movies offcourse, but that shouldn't be too big a problem...

No doubt I will end up buying this for my kids. But even they are getting a little tired of the format.
The new features do sound interesting though.

Lego, the most logical home for Star Wars.

I love the fact that over half the trailer is made of footage from the previous games.
