    I'd like them to re-release HD versions of Yakuza 1 and 2. I was playign through Yakuza 1 and got pretty near the end and then my fat PS3 broke and I had to replace it with a slim. of course there were those incredibly boring videos telling the story of the first and second, but it would be nice to play them. Yakuza 3 was excelent :) cant wait for this!

    No mention of anything being taken out this time because we are "to backward to understand"?

    Or were they just taken out because the stuff was so heavily rooted in Japanese culture that it wouldn't be worth translating, except for those idiots who wish with every fibre of their being that they were born japanese?

    Anyway, I love the Yakuza games. Definitely getting this, although maybe not on day 1, given how fast 3 hit £17.99.

    3 is a great game. Even with the content removed there's still about 600 things to do on your completion list so it'll keep you buzy for awhile anyway.

    Er... No.

    The content they removed damaged Yakuza 3 because the majority of what was left was the face punching, the club management aspect in particular was a respite which offered much needed variety.

    The hostesses are still in the game but the social interaction side has been removed entirely leaving just shallow sexual encounters and face punching. It's a much worse game because of the hack job SOA did.

    @midnight walker

    Point of detail - mah-jong is Chinese...

    but anyway it's played and enjoyed around the world - likewise shogi - so no excuse for cutting them.

    I was interested in picking up Yakuza 3, do I need to play 1 & 2 first?

    @PS_2010 I'd never played any of the Yakuza games before and only had scant knowledge of them, with the additional fact that Beat 'em ups (or Beat 'em up sections in games) are at the bottom of my interest list.

    I took a punt on Yakuza 3 and absolutely loved it. Great story and humour. Well worth £15 quid that its going for on Amazon.

    @Razz

    Yakuza 3 includes a recap of the first two games, so it's not necessary to play them. You might want to anyway, though, as they're great, especially Yakuza 2.

    is 2 still considerd to be the series highlight? (I'v only got 3)

    I think Yakuza 2 is generally regarded as the best of the first three games. It's my personal favourite for various reasons: a strong story, refined combat, host club management, and of course the legendary tiger punching.

    Just give us Yakuza Kenzan first!
    I'll keep saying this in every Yakuza news out there until someone from Sega listens...

    "YOU CAN VISIT HOSTESS CLUBS"

    Just wait before Sega pulls a Sega on us at the very last moment.

    I enjoyed most of 3, even if it was basically just a 3D beat 'em up with little else worth bothering with. But please get rid of the grunty text based cut scenes. The one where the politician takes about an hour to carefully explain every detail of the plot was tedious I found myself wishing for him to start talking about nanomachines and cloning, or for my house to explode, anything to end the pain.
