PES 2011 demo dated

Messi defending?

Konami has popped a 15th September date on the PES 2011 demo for PC and PS3.

Subscribers to Sony's PlayStation Plus service can, however, download the sampler from 8th September.

The whereabouts of the Xbox 360 demo is unknown. We'll know "shortly", apparently.

The PES 2011 demo does not allow online play. Instead, you're able to take on the computer - or a friend on the same console - as either Barcelona, Bayern, Chivas Guadalajara or Internacional.

Konami's PES 2011 is due out proper on 8th October - exactly a week after FIFA 11.

    PES has always been the best footballgame in my book. Not because it's PES but simply because it plays the best game of football - that hasn't changed during these last years at all. It's just that the FIFA-fans have been able to shout the loudest and EA's PR-department has done an excellent job of telling the world that their footballgame is the best. It still isn't and mainly for one very, very important reason: FIFA has to this date always had appalling volleyball-esque ballphysics. They have never ever been able to fix this. Don't know why.
  • Zebula77 #8 1 year ago

    Almost tempted to get Playstation Plus just to get the demo early, but I'll wait.

    Very, very amped up for this game. Well, as amped up as I always am for a PES title but I'm anxious to see the changes and so on. :)
  • Physically_Insane #9 1 year ago

    I know what Vedfolner means. Goals just don't feel right in FIFA. There's something more floaty and predictable in FIFA that isn't in PES. They need to put more weight into their physics.
  • Bernkastel #10 1 year ago

    Oh, you can pick Barça in the demo? Perfect, it'll take a couple of runs with Messi to decide if I'm picking this up.

    Like most ppl I was all about pro evo in the PS2 days. The last 2 years in a row I kept an open mind and tried both demo's before buying either. I just cant get into Fifa, maybe its because Im so used to pro evo. I know it does so much that pro evo does not but it just doesnt play as good a game of football as pro evo
  • andijames #12 1 year ago

    It's really not a matter of which will work out to be the best it's if i buy one or two football games this year. I'm hoping PES has improved somewhat on the last few years as i loved playing it back on the old PS2. FIFA has been on a role recently and will no doubt pick that up but i really am optimistic that PES will be just as good this year! If so then we have two great football games to play :)
  • LionheartDJH #13 1 year ago

    Glad to see they've got Bayern back in the game, probably be my ML team of choice now that my own club haven't been licensed this year. Can't wait to play the demo and see how much they've changed, from the gameplay videos I've seen it looks like it might take a while to get used to the new passing mechanics.
  • TVoJ #14 1 year ago

    PES is better than FIFA............if you've never played a game of football or even watched one. Seriously tho, what the fuck do the japanese know about football? stick to baseball or ninja warrior u fucking mad heads.
  • Power_n_Glory #15 1 year ago

    All you guys who think Fifa is still behind Pro Evo are delusional. Even Konami know they are behind Fifa which is why they’re trying to introduce 360 passing and dribbling. I used to play nothing but Pro Evo in the PS2 days but haven’t bothered with it since buying a 360. Just last week I let my friend play a few games of World Cup 2010 and he was impressed and for the first time he’s considering getting Fifa 2011. As he said, Fifa actually feels more free than Pro Evo. It’s why the developers are adding 360 passing to Pro this year and that will make a huge difference to the game.

    I hope Pro gets back on their game because competition is healthy.

    I'll try both demos and make my mind up then but of what I've seen so far my money is once again shifting towards Fifa. I'm sorry, but PES had it's chance and it dominated my play time for the latter end of the PS1 era and the ENTIRE PS2 era. Now they just seem to be stealing everything from Fifa which is ironic because there was once a time when Fifa tried stealing from PES to be a better game.

    The online part will most likely be poor again and playing with friends with Team Play in Fifa is a joy. I admired Fifa 08 but I stayed away. One more year I kept telling myself, one more year and it'll be back on top of form. Well the fact is that it has been 3 years and I really did not expect PES to resort to stealing ideas from Fifa to appeal to football fans again. I mean they STILL haven't sorted the goalkeepers out! They're AI is absolutely terrible. Even top goalies like Casillas and Buffon let in absolutely stupid goals at times. Why can't the keepers be as realistic as they were in PES 4 and 5?

    The only things that PES have over Fifa now are the excellent editing modes and the Master League which have always been excellent. The rest just feels underwelming now :/
  • ChuckNorris #17 1 year ago

    @TVoJ

    And Canadians are the authority when it comes to football? :/
  • chasejamie #18 1 year ago

    Shove a high res Pro Evo 5 with online play on the PS store and Live for a tenner and your sorted. I'll be buying both games as usual, I still prefer multiplayer games of Pro Evo though. I don't care if I lose in Pro Evo because I know what I've done wrong. FIFA on the other hand baffles me sometimes. Both still great games.
  • NotSoSlim #19 1 year ago

    As the keepers have been sorted going by the recent previews i am now looking forward to this
  • razzastuta #20 1 year ago

    I've always been a PES-fan for as long as I can remember, but the last two versions has seriously tested my patience. I am crossing my fingers that PES2011 finally gets it right. PES2009 passing game was way off, and PES2010 was just a little too easy with some real stupid goalkeeping at time.

    As for FIFA, I've tried previous games but struggled with them, technically they're fine but somehow the football feels "soulless". I don't know why, but I've just never found the competitive passion in FIFA whereas it's there in PES, for me anyway. This doesn't rule out a switch to FIFA though if PES doesn't improve it's game, but I'd have to play FIFA11 to make a decision.
  • Vedfolner #21 1 year ago

    @Power_n_Glory

    Just because the players are able to move at 360 degrees doesn't make it a better game. It doesn't really say anything. My dog kan do the same and although his technique is slightly improving he just can't seem to pass the ball properly ;)
  • Power_n_Glory #22 1 year ago

    @Vedfolner
    Wait until you play the new PES and you’re able to play a through ball anywhere and the difference it makes to the game. You’re less restricted and it just opens up the game. Pro Evo has been stuck on rails for a long time and they’ve been using the PS2 engine for far too long. It shouldn’t have taken them this long to exploit the PS3/Xbox 360 engines.

    It took me a while to adapt to Fifa from Pro but they really have created a great football game. The majority of my friends who played PES are now playing Fifa and we all used to play PES from the PS1 days and even further back then that when it was on the SNES and N64 as ISS. If you’re not convinced it doesn’t matter. I’m not here to convince you. Each to their own.
  • chiz #23 1 year ago

    I'm sick to death of fifa. It's that much on rails, you should be able to spot the odd train on the pitch. EG: Press pass, nothing happens until the cpu decides when to pass. Or, the usual the ball just goes out of play and no more. Or the fact when you clear your defence with a FULL POWER punt it goes 2 meters straight to the opponent. I can see right through Fifa now.

    Bring us back the glory days, Konami!
  • Vedfolner #24 1 year ago

    @Power_n_Glory
    Each to his own indeed. Happy to hear you're enjoying FIFA that's what it's all about. FIFA just isn't for me unless they fix the ballphysics - then I would happily play it. However both games have a couple more serious errors in my opinion. I have completely lost my patience regarding FIFA's - and all other EA Sports Games' - menu system. It's so crowded with menus and submenus that I'm losing my mind just looking at it (much less trying to find my way around it).
    Regarding PES I really can't understand why they don't just dish out for all the official players and club names. If they want people to take their game seriously there is absolutely no way around this. I know it doesn't affect the game much but the lowbudget signal is a huge mistake. And surely the success the series has had over the years justify the expense.
  • Power_n_Glory #25 1 year ago

    What was the last Fifa game you played?
  • Osmond #26 1 year ago

    PES2010 was great imo as was 09, i just dont understand why people think fifa is so much better. I love the master league and think its far better than fifas poor manager mode. Online though fifa owns it all the way, this is one area where konami must sort out their net code.
  • Power_n_Glory #27 1 year ago

    The master league is way better than Fifa's manager mode. It has so many bugs and flaws it's not even funny. That's my one major gripe with Fifa. But I'm hoping they get it right this season as I've heard the master league mode for PES 2010 was amazing. There are many things wrong with Fifa but they've made up for it with the gameplay and that's saying something. The gameplay in Pro Evo used to outshine everything else and you'd put up with the lack of kits, fake names, hours of editing, poor commentary..etc. It seems like the roles have reversed in recent years.
  • Vedfolner #28 1 year ago

    @Power_n_Glory

    FIFA 10 and I really gave it some time too. Just didn't find any pleasure in it. I've played all the previous versions since RtWC '98.

    World Cup 2010 is a lot better. More weight in the ball and the player movement is better.

    EA still have a lot of work to do on Fifa and as long as they keep building and improving on what they have, their going to be successful. The core engine is in place and it’s just about what the developers can do as each year passes. With PES, they’ve still got to build that true next gen code and engine and I hope we see the start of it in this game. As soon as Fifa 07 came out on the 360, I knew EA were close to getting it right. I was reading an interview on one of the lead developers and he was talking about the amount of different things Fifa can now do because they had more power on the Xbox 360 so they weren’t limited. I was impressed with the ideas and they’re delivering.

    With Pro, I feel they have to build a new engine and can’t continue to build on old foundations. I hope this is the start of it but this isn’t like the old days. Pro won’t dominate like it used to and it probably won’t again until the next gen of consoles come out. It’s now a two horse race like.
  • vizzini #31 1 year ago

    I'm quite excited about a new PES; but not because it has new features again, but mainly because the people I used to play PES with offline for fun, are now starting to join this hardware generation.

    One of the first things my friend said when his PS3 arrived the other day was: “we'll need to get copies of the new PES and start play some games”

    I'd sort of forgotten that the best aspect of PES was playing with local smack talk from friends.
  • z8Jay #32 1 year ago

    PES always feels like the ball is full of water
  • SJGSpook #33 1 year ago

    I've been playing the demo and I can't believe they have failed to get the movement of the ball correct. Do these people understand football at all? Pro Evo used to be phenonemal and it pisses me off the series has become as bad as it is now. Its a shame because if they got the motion of the ball correct this game would have been decent.
