Sonic Colours dated

New trailer released.

Wii and DS adventure game Sonic Colours will be released on 12th November in Europe, SEGA has announced.

Last week Sonic Team head honcho Takashi Iizuka told Eurogamer Sonic Colours is mainly for fans of the speedy blue hedgehog's 3D outings.

With Colours, Sonic Team has focused on the positive feedback it received on Sonic Unleashed's daylight stages.

The less said about the night-time levels, the better.

Keza MacDonald went hands-on for Eurogamer in June.

A new trailer showcasing the Drill and Laser Colour Powers and theme park-inspired worlds Tropical Resort and Sweet Mountain is below.

I wish this was ps360 too because I really enjoyed the daytime stages in unleashed.

Oh well wii it is :)

    That looks.... pretty awesome strangely.

I do hope the camera doesn't move around as much during actual gameplay, having to suddenly adjust your direction during high speed runs seems like broken wiimotes and windows waiting to happen.

My main problem with every Sonic game after Adventure is that they populate the entire game with identical enemies.

This is looking better than Sonic 4, for me personally. Never thought that would have been possible. Hmm.

I must be getting old - that just looks like there's far too much happening (and i've always preferred Sonic over Mario (Mega Drive pack on day 1))

    Too... much... happening!

It looks gorgeous, but after the recent interview, it's clear they still haven't copped on to what makes a good Sonic game.

    prediction time:

    * It will be very, very fast, reviews will applaud this

    * It will be very hard to control, Sonic's accelleration will be near instantaneous, and movement will be twitchy, with no weight/inertia or momentum.

    * Levels will feature many rails, cannons, things to bounce off of and automated loop de loops, always preceeded by a one of those speed boost pads.

    * It will score in the 7's/8's due to it's abandoning all the alternate slow bits(see Werehog).

    * People who like Sonic Rush, Sonic Advance 2, and Sonic Unleashed daytime stages will enjoy it.

Im noticing a trend with the music used in sonic trailers. They always have a great instrumental for the initial teaser, then go an spoil it by putting the girliest vocals on it imaginable for the final pre-release trailer. :(

Gameplay looks awesome. I feel slightly embarrassed that this is the only game I'm looking forward to across all formats this Xmas though.

Well the video made me smile, which is rare for me watching game videos.

I see the latest fps clone, of someone shooting stuff and snore. This actually made me feel excited for games again, wish more game videos did that (even if they dont live up to it when they get released)

Actually looks pretty good! Colour me surprised.
  • smelly #11 2 years ago

@mrboshingles - i see what you did there...

    >I wish this was ps360 too

There are plenty of dull grey and brown fps games to play on those platforms, leave us wii owners with something decent (looking) to play for a change!

    :-)

    Looks OK.

really about time they chucked a chao garden into a sonic game again though, my kids spent hours playing the 'adventure' games on the DC for those things.

When I first read that title I was thinking "It doesn't look THAT dated"
  • smelly #15 2 years ago

WOOHOOO!!! Four WHOLE hours before someone made the predictable "dated" joke..

You sooo funneee! You should be on tv or something with that funnyness in your funny bones.
  • alcides #16 2 years ago

That soundtrack is the most offensive thing.
  • rickyhabana #17 2 years ago

they should show sonic being controlled at speed, rather than him on rails, how are we supposed to know if we can even control him?
  • KDR_11k #18 2 years ago

The 3D sections are like Secret Rings I believe which I don't think is a bad thing, after all having the camera behind you lets you see much further ahead.

What is this the 90s? What's with all the happy hardcore music?

I'm looking forward to this - as I've said before this may be the SMG of Sonics.
  • Xieldos #20 2 years ago

The 3D sections will be like Unleashed not SR. It's running off the same hedgehog engine as Unleashed daytime stages.

Im HOPING its ALL like the video.. Im EXPECTING it to have a lot of crappy slow stages...
  • asphaltcowboy #22 2 years ago

It looks fantastic and I'm desperate for it to be good, but Sonic Team has broken my heart too many times... I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Let's wait and see!
