WipEout for PS3?

Sony Liverpool man says so.

Clemens Wangerin, director of development at Sony Liverpool, has confirmed rumours that his team is working on WipEout for PlayStation 3.

Speaking to Develop magazine, he said he expected the game to make use of SIXAXIS controls, have online multiplayer and downloadable content.

Sony was unavailable to comment this morning, but its US arm has said to expect a full announcement on the game in the future.

Until then we have no idea of when to expect the title, but its existence has at least been confirmed, which makes us a little bit giddy with excitement.

Hardly surprising, really, given how good the PSP version was.
