Sonic 4 details emerge via ESRB listing

Rings! Robots! Bosses! Comic mischief!

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has outlined what you can expect from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - and the news is it's pretty much what you would expect.

"This is a side-scrolling adventure game in which players zoom through themed levels, collect gold rings and jump on tiny robot enemies," reads the ESRB listing.

"Players earn points for collecting "power-ups" and freeing tiny animals that are trapped in the robots. During boss battles at the end of levels, players may encounter an arch nemesis in a mechanical device that gets charred and emits some flames when damaged."

The game has been given an "E for Everyone" rating, with the general tone being described as "comic mischief".

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is in development for Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be released episodically. It's due out this summer.
