I thought the writing and voice acting in The Witcher 3 was excellent all round, it's also one of the best games I've played, period.

How the Commodore Amiga changed gaming - and my life

SidiousCyanide

@rhyfel No one actually bought games for the Amiga. The only ones i owned were Cannon Fodder, Heimdall, Mortal Kombat and a few budget titles, the rest were copies.

I have really fond memories of riding bikes and windsurfing in Hunter and playing games such as Populous 2, Syndicate, SimCity, Knights of the Sky, Frontier: Elite 2 etc. also adventuring in Robin Hood.

"A poorly optimised mess. It's becoming a theme with japanese developers at the moment"

I get the general impression they have no idea how to develop or optimize games for PC, although there are exceptions, Street Fighter IV being a good example.

Ubisoft hits back at Assassin's Creed: Unity downgrade claims

SidiousCyanide

If they can't get the game to run beyond 30FPS at 1080p then fine, I can accept that, but don't come out with such utter bullshit as games look more "cinematic" at 30FPS over 60FPS. I haven't played a single game yet that hasn't felt more polished, responsive and immersive running at higher frame rates than 30FPS, the difference is night and day, there's a reason why 1080p 60FPS is considered a gold standard for video games.

Anyone comparing frame rates of games to films are idiots, they're two very different mediums.

SidiousCyanide

@schuelertomas "sorry what please? any medicore pc can achieve full hd for an looooong time.

try again..."

You do realize that HD only refers to the resolution, right? but if you want the games running at a CONSISTENT 60fps with the graphics dialled up then you need a relatively powerful PC, one that's way more expensive than the current consoles.
0 0

SidiousCyanide

You need a pretty hefty PC to achieve a consistent 1080p 60fps with the graphics dialled up. 1080p 30fps should have been a realistic goal for the consoles from the get-go, although there are exceptions, CoD springs to mind.

Call of Duty: Ghosts review

SidiousCyanide

I don't think I've been this underwhelmed with CoD multiplayer since MW3, the guns are bland and indistinct, the colour palette is muted and dull and the maps... I'm just so sick of rubble, bombed out everything, military vehicles and ammo/weapon crates that seem to feature in almost every map infinity ward design, I mean for f*cks sake, when you reduce every location to a warzone it all ends up looking the same, rubble is rubble.

It's great MS have done this with Xbox One but the ONLY reason they've done this is because they had no choice. Sony still have a huge edge in my opinion, PS4 hardware is more powerful and is $100/80 cheaper to boot.
