FlatOut dev's Next Car Game now Wreckfest

I've been waiting for something from these guys since the criminally underrated Flatout Ultimate Carnage.
QFT. And it looked great on X360, especially for an early-gen game. Could watch replays for hours.

Performance Analysis: Destiny on Xbox One

Duallusion

With no performance penalty or pared-back visual settings in sight, first impressions suggest a release that very closely matches its PlayStation 4 counterpart in terms of both looks and performance.
Interesting, considering the slight(?) difference under the hood between both consoles.

@dcangel

Well, I was playing D3 mostly solo (Xbox 360) and I love it but if demo didn't grab you, this might not be for you. You've got to love the genre itself (loot, leveling up, more loot, loot again).

It's not the freedom of speech that's the problem here; it's right to privacy. Why did Olin decide to share his, in my opinion, correct opinion on fucking Tweeter is another matter. It still didn't sink in to these people that it's very much a double-edged sword, it seems.

Super Mario Land retrospective

Duallusion

Awww, my first game, basically (that I owned). Since it was my only game for quite some time I squeezed every drop of fun out of it; I even played it with the Game Boy upside down to see how far I could go (far). Oh, the good old times ...

Article forgot to mention there's a harder mode (more enemies) after beating the game. I'm still waiting for a (Mario) game that would cram the levels with more enemies, after beating the game. It's an easy way to do post-game content, a great way to encourage new playthrough(s), it's a good fit for FPS/TPS and other genres and it's not quite the same as raising the difficulty.

Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition review

Duallusion

In fact, looking at it now, Baldur's Gate 2 rather feels like a product of the end-of-the-century post-rock scene, so riddled is it with stories of loss, harm, self-doubt and suffering. It's about the pain of growing and change and it is perhaps the most emo thing BioWare has ever made.
Don't want to know how reviewer would classify, say, Planescape: Torment's or gazzilion lesser "dark" stories in games, if his first mental connection about poor ol' BGII story was "post-rock" and "emo", of all things. :/

Very close? But... forum experts keep telling us there's going to be quite a noticable performance difference between PS4 and X1? What's that all about? 50% more of this and 66% more of that; how in hell could that translate to "very close" in practical terms!?

Eh, John Carmac probably doesn't have a clue! Or he's a MS shill! Yeah, that must be it.

Kickstarter game raises $123K, then gets canned after 13 months

Duallusion

KS does not seem like investing in a company (you actually have a hope to make a profit in that case, not just get one product that company might sell in a future of unknown quality) or like buying stock (even stock feels more tangible then what you're paying for here) or like being a producer/publisher (you have next to no input, beyond paying up, including no profits) or like a pre-order (no money back guarantee - no guarantee at all, in fact). I might have gotten some points above wrong, since I didn't actually read the KS ToS.

As much as "KS critics" are trying to be brushed aside because of genuine positive aspect of the system, this kind of cases and the whole way KS is designed *are* a perfectly valid case for not investing into KS project in general, sorry.

No matter how cunt-y this sounds, I view KS (as it is now) as a nice system that enables *other* people to invest in products/projects I might buy in the future, if they are actually good (which I'm sure many will be and already are). In the end, I basically get what the backers get, without any risk or paying upfront a couple of years in advance, and I feel that really shouldn't be the case.

It's also a nice system for creators. Perfect, really.

A big fat "+1" to the fine gentleman who said Batman Begins is the best one in the trilogy. It is, especially in the general story structure and character arcs department. It's the purest of the three, for lack of a better word.

Mutant Mudds dev concerned by potential Nintendo 3DS piracy

It's idiotic to take torrent figures like that though, the movie and music industry do it and they come up with frankly stupid amounts of money "lost" they'd never get in reality.
They wouldn't get all of it but they would get some of it. Or do you actually believe all these people would suddenly stop watching movies, playing games and listening to music, if piracy wouldn't be possible anymore?

If kickstarter was an investment scheme and I'd also get a procentage of possible profits (based on amount of my investment and number of investors, say), then I *might* be interested in backing something. As it i now, I'm happy to let other people fund games I may be interested in buying *if* they end up being good.

All that slow ram/slow CPU/this-gen/whatever crap showeled around on gaming sites just faded away when I actually sat down and played it. I have a whole list of things I'm not too fond of (drive doesn't spin down, patches, slow UI, battery life, etc. etc.) but I'm having fun with it and in the end that's all I ask from a gaming console. I just hope developers will explore all of its vast potential; at least on e-shop.
