Grand Theft Auto bricks itself

Lego-based GTA parody amuses and entertains. And fills those troubling few minutes before lunch with a smile.

Given that it seems to have been around so long that it's bedded itself in a number of British magazines, let alone sprung up on websites, we do feel a little silly being the last people to point out its existence, but having witnessed Grand Theft Auto: Lego City from seemingly stop-motion loving outfit "Brick Flicks" first hand, we couldn't just let it pass. Besides, you'd rather read about someone's Lego-based GTA parody for the umpteenth time than you would about patches or financial results, right?

So then. GTA: Lego City. It began life as a college video project. According to Brick Flick: "One of us wanted to do a Lego movie, another one of us wanted to do a parody of Grand Theft Auto, and one of us wanted to ride through the streets of San Francisco on unicycles wearing pink leotards and silver capes." GTA: Lego City is a combination of the first two ideas. We're not sure what happened to the other guy, but it's possible he's one of the hunky men on the packaging for the "Instant Gay Accent" mouthspray this writer received for his birthday...

But whether the young man went off to pursue his dream of penetrating the exclusive world of haute couture or not, GTA: Lego City is why we're here, and you can download it from Brick Flick's website in DivX and QuickTime formats here. When you've done that, you'll see that it's a trailer for a GTA-style game based entirely around the exploits of little Lego men. And, yes, we probably should have mentioned that earlier, but we're all suffering from headaches today for some reason and there are bound to be side effects...
