New Ouya images show off tiny console, sleek controller

Signs deal with XBMC to provide a media player.
The tiny Ouya console, compared to a human finger.

New images of Ouya, the Android-powered open source console that aims to shake up the video game industry, have been released.

The first image shows the tiny cube design of the console with a finger pressing down on it to show scale. The second image shows the controller being held, again, so we get a sense of scale. Both look pretty small to us (or perhaps we're being fooled by giant hands).

The Ouya controller, which also looks pretty small.

Ouya's Kickstarter-powered crowd-funding comes to an end in 39 hours. At the time of publication it had raised $6.947 million off the back of 52,296 backers.

Meanwhile, Ouya announced it has signed a deal with XBMC to provide a media player for the console.

XBMC is an open source media player that will be fully integrated into the console.

Also announced today is Ouya's partnership with TuneIn, the free service that lets people listen to music, sports and news via some 70,000 stations across 230 countries.

When the Ouya Kickstarter comes to an end, a new Ouya website will launch at www.ouya.tv, which will form the base of web operations from then on. Ouya is expected to launch in March 2013.
