Microsoft teases Xbox One screenshot feature

Double tap guide button, press Y.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has teased the upcoming Xbox One screenshot feature, which should become available for public use soon.

"Nice to finally be doing this on my Xbox One dev kit," Spencer wrote on Twitter over the weekend.

His message was accompanied by an image showing the Xbox One's double-tap guide menu, where a new option to save a screenshot now sits.

It seems like a bit of a fiddly workaround, but in subsequent messages Spencer stressed that the user interface method was still in beta.

The ability to take screengrabs from an Xbox One has been the top request from users for some time.

Microsoft has worked on adding the feature for some time, although the right method has remained illusive.

Screenshots are now expected to arrive in one of the console's next few monthly firmware updates.

PlayStation 4 has allowed you to snap screenshots of games since the console launched.
