Microsoft Games makes more money

Still excited about 17m-plus sold.

Microsoft has published its Q2 financial results, revealing the games division's performance has exceeded expectations.

The company had predicted the division would suffer an 8 per cent decline in revenues during the quarter. However, they rose by 3.1 per cent to reach USD 3.06 billion, probably because of all those spare copies of Viva Pinata Tom bought.

Microsoft also continued to be excited about having shipped 17.7 million Xbox 360 units around the globe, which puts it in second place in this generation so far behind Nintendo's 20 million-selling Wii.

Looking at the big company overall, which probably isn't how they'd put it on CNN, Microsoft made revenues of USD 16.37 billion during the quarter. Apparently Vista did better than expected, too. In financial terms, obviously.
