Foosball 2012 kicks off on PS3 and Vita next week

Buy one version, get the other for free.

Foosball 2012 is coming to both PS3 and Vita on 25th July - or 24th July in North America - for £5.99 / €6.99 / $7.99, Sony has announced.

PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to pick it up at £3.99 / €4.99 / $5.99 for a limited time.

Perhaps the game's most unique features is its cross-platform play between the PS3 and the Vita. Buy it on one platform and you'll automatically receive it on the other at no additional cost.

If you own both devices, you can start a match on one system then carry your game over to the other. Even if you only own one of the two platforms, you can still play with people on the other online.

Developed by The Impossible Game creator Grip Games, Foosball 2012 also offers PlayStation Move support for up to two wands at a time.

Grip Games CEO Jakub Mikyska confirmed that there will be a free trial of the game for both systems.

When asked about two vs two matches in a comment on the US PlayStation Blog, Mikyska explained "You can play two vs two online, with your friend locally (so, technically, it is one vs one, but for four players). This is mostly because of lag. Having 50ms lag in a racing game or a shooter is okay, but it would make the game unplayable in foosball."
