Dell denies handheld plans

But keeps options open.

Dell has distanced itself from reports that it has definite plans to produce a handheld gaming device, but isn't completely ruling out the possibility.

"I can confirm there are no plans to launch a gaming handheld at this time," a spokesperson for Dell told Eurogamer. "But Dell is always looking at evaluating new technology."

The PC manufacturer was commenting on rumours that arose after Dell's global gaming chief Abizar Vakharia hinted at the possibility of such a device during a recent event in Marbella.

"You know, that's definitely one that's on the radar screen, but we have no plans to talk about anything today," he reportedly divulged.

The company clearly has games on the brain, what with last year's acquisition of Alienware, and the launch of its XPS range of desktop PCs. But whether it has games in its pocket on the brain is another matter - and an uncomfortable sounding one at that.
