Deadline confirms Faith and a .45 halt

CEO says Watchmen taking top priority.

Deadline Games CEO Chris Mottes has confirmed to Eurogamer that development on Faith and a .45 has stalled, continuing only on a "negotiation level".

"During the past year our team has been fully occupied with the development of Watchmen: The End is Nigh. We are proud to work on such a high quality online product and excited by how well it has been received by the press already," said Mottes.

"Watchmen: The End is Nigh will be released day on date with Zack Snyder's movie adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel.

"With our focus on the development of Watchmen, the activities related to the intense and atmospheric shooter Faith and a .45 - featuring a heavy focus on characters, co-operative gameplay, road-movie storytelling and cinematic aesthetics - have continued at a negotiation level," he added.

Mottes made no mention of Faith and a .45 being held back due to lack of a publisher, which original reports had cited as reason for the hold-up. Whether Faith and a .45 has attracted publisher attention and will still be released is something we're waiting to hear back on.

Faith and a .45 is set back during the Great Depression of the 1920s, and follows to outlaw lovers taking on a corrupt oilman. The focus, as Mottes mentioned, is to be on co-op, story and cinematic set-pieces. A teaser trailer is all we've seen of the title so far.

Watchmen: The End is Nigh will be the first of an episodic series to compliment the upcoming film, which launches across the UK on 6th March. The focus in The End is Nigh will be on what Nite Owl and Rorschach got up to before the events of the celebrated graphic novel: beating people up, saving the day, that sort of thing.

Danish developer Deadline Games has most recently been responsible for over-the-top and decent action shooters Total Overdose and Chili Con Carnage.
