Steve Jobs takes a jab at Blu-ray

Says it's a "bag of hurt", in summary.

Apple boss Steve Jobs has dismissed Blu-ray for being too complex to licence and not established enough.

"Blu-ray is just a bag of hurt," said Jobs at an Apple notebook presentation, as reported by Engadget. "It's great to watch the movies, but the licensing of the tech is so complex.

"We're waiting till things settle down and Blu-ray takes off in the marketplace."

Jobs went on to claim that the HDMI signal produced by Blu-ray is "limited in resolution". Apple marketing boss Phil Schiller predicted that the format will be trounced by DisplayPort resolutions eventually, anyway.

And, for now, argued Schiller, Apple has "the best HD movie and TV options in iTunes". But then, he would say that.
