Buena Vista pledges UMD movies

Five more PSP films including Kill Bill.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment has become the latest film company to pledge support to the PlayStation Portable's UMD movie market, announcing five titles for release on the format "this spring" with more to be announced "throughout the year".

National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Reign of Fire, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Hero will all be released in the US and Canada in the months following the PSP's 24th March North American launch.

President Bob Chapek reckons PSP is "poised to revolutionise portable entertainment systems throughout the world," which is very nice, and adds that BVHE is "confident" all five UMD releases will "appeal to the new PSP consumer".

Let's see. Indy Jones clone, pirate zombies, dragons and martial arts... Yep, looks like Bob's done his homework.
