Dance Central DLC "won't be weekly"

Harmonix title stars at hands-on event.

Harmonix has confirmed its first Kinect title, Dance Central, will regularly receive new tracks to download - but "it won't be weekly".

Speaking to Eurogamer at a private event following the evening's dramatic launch "experience", Harmonix' Stephanie Myers told us a dance game was "the perfect avenue" for the studio to pursue with the technology.

Dance Central takes advantage of Kinect's detailed body-tracking, with players busting moves to on-screen dancers, following set routines. It proved overwhelmingly to be the most popular game at the event and offered a handful of tracks to sample, including Lady Gaga's Poker Face.

"Harmonix' mission is to bring people enjoyment they get from performing music," said Myers, adding that the game "gives you the opportunity to learn dance moves you could take to a club".

Myers also confirmed the game will feature a two-player battle mode, plus choreography created both specifically for the game or copied from pop video classics. If Harmonix isn't already working on a Steps track pack, something's gone badly wrong.

"We haven't announced a launch date," said Myers, in case you were wondering.
