Microsoft has announced January's Xbox Live Games with Gold titles.

The headline game is Celeste, which Xbox One Gold subscribers can download for free during the month of January.

Celeste is a platformer Christian Donlan adored. Here's a snippet from his review:

"Celeste is brutal, but it's also sweet, and in its handling of the two elements it finds both a touching, timely narrative and an enviable sense of balance. What a game."

The other Xbox One Gold game is WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship, which is free to download from 16th January to 15th February.

Elsewhere, on Xbox 360, Gold subscribers can nab Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for free from 1st January to 15th January.

Then, from 16th January to 31st January, Gold members can download the superb open world shooter Far Cry 2.

Both Xbox 360 games are playable on Xbox One via backwards compatibility.
