PS4 shoots through 30m sales mark

Kaz you believe it?

PlayStation 4 has now sold over 30m units worldwide, Sony has announced.

30.2m units were sold as of 22nd November 2015, just over two years after the console went on sale. PS4 is the fastest-selling PlayStation console ever, Sony said.

PS4's remarkable sales success has seen it reach the 30m mark two months quicker than PS2, which went on to become the best-selling console ever. And all this before the bumper Black Friday sales spike and Christmas.

As we've reported, PlayStation is making a huge amount of money for the wider Sony group. In October Sony predicted it would sell 17.5m PS4s during the 2015 financial year. It sold 14.8 during the 2014 financial year.

In October Sony announced a PS4 price-cut in the UK. The new RRP of the 500GB PS4 is £299.99, but you can get it cheaper than that at most shops.
