Respawn not working with Bethesda

West/Zampella just in town as friends.

Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard has told Eurogamer that we shouldn't read anything into Respawn Entertainment's presence at QuakeCon.

Yesterday Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax announced that it had acquired Arkane Studios, another developer with a strong presence at the convention's panel discussions - but that doesn't mean Respawn is also involved with ZeniMax.

Asked whether we should infer anything from Jason West and Vince Zampella's presence on the Building Blockbusters panel earlier today, Howard laughed and said, "No, you shouldn't."

"The Respawn guys... They're doing their game and I think EA is publishing it," he said.

"But we've been friends with them for a long time. Tim and I know Vince and Jason pretty well and we thought that that would make a cool panel.

Respawn has yet to announce its new project, although West said earlier today that the studio was currently considering technology options for it. It's probably going to be a shooter, innit.
