Those of you on size XL (ffs) will get an almost free speed increase soonish. Starts in may. You prolly already knew that, tho.

Oh yea, the price is going up by 2 quid.

:o I care! What's the speed increase? I'm pretty sure we're on the XL package - free upgrade after threatening to leave cause of no Sky One :D

Yeah. They are also testing 50Mb and 100Mb lines at the moment as well, so it's going to get much faster.

Had mine on 20meg since Sunday, well it should be 20meg but a constant 15 is "all" I can get. I think my very old Motorola SB4100 is possibly the weak link and there's apparently going to be a free upgrade plan for self installers at some point in the future.

As long as the speed capping nonsense doesn't kick in like it was for me last week...

    Huh.

I've been on NTL/Virgin for over 3 years and not experienced that. Sounds nice!

I dont see Aberdeen on that list. >:(

Ive supposedly got 8mb for £19.99 a month but downloads rarely go over 100kbps and Ive never seen it go faster than 500kbps.

I'm in IT and when i rang up Customer service to complain i got some patronising know nothing bint, reading right out of the manual, teling me 1.5MB was quite good as the service is advertised as
    "up to 10MB"

\ so to sum up i should be grateful to them, feckers

    \Kalel, cable, for my sins

So I cancelled the BB and phone too.

/maybe my last post from home with them

Now that's suspiciously like someone patting themselves on the back... ;-)

And use more of the blonde girlie with the short hair, I rather like her...

Just done a speedtest (I routed it through Nottingham's proxy server as I always get better speed from them than my local Guildford ones) here, obviously my up speed shouldn't factor in. On Giganews I get 15meg pretty much all the time.

Same here. We actually dropped back down to 4 MB from the XL package and to be honest, haven't noticed much of a difference, which says a lot.

A better test than to use those crappy speed test thingies is to just DL something from the MS download site.

It's a bit random at times though, the simple speed test on NTHellworld.co.uk can be all over the place though. I did another Speedtest to Dublin and got faster speeds with higher latency after I did the one I posted!

Everyone who subscribes to the XL or 10Mb with Virgin Media (ie NTL or Telewest) will get the upgrade to 20Mb. This is going to be rolled out throughout May, one region at a time.

It had damn well better get faster. Since Virgin took over my internet has been the slowest crawl I've had to put up with in years. Horrible.

My 10meg has been a steady 9.5mbps for months until today; when I was getting speeds as low as 300kbps. After 2 phone calls lasting over 40 minutes with a whispering Indian guy at technical support who eventually said "I have Adware problems" I decided to check for spyware and fuck all showed up. I wonder if the higher broadband speeds down South are draining the resources?

Well, mine has started cutting out again three or four times a day... which it always does when they start tinkering with anything.
