Yeah, I've got a 50" Panny, fucking awesome. It takes a while to realise though because the picture isn't as bright as an LCD, but the colours are far richer and the blacks much deeper.

Also, if you still play Wii, standard definition is far better.

I already have a 50" Panasonic Plasma (42" one before that) and like it but I've been itching for a bigger, better model for a while.
I don't play Wii anymore although I know if I do this will handle it better than most.

I'm also in the plasma party. Got my 1080p Panny 42" GT30 about ten months ago for EUR 600 (480 quid I think) and it's excellent, I never regret that investment. From everything I read, burn-in is something that only happened in the distant past.

It will be interesting to see the development of 4k and AMOLED TVs, but for the time to come, in terms of matured and affordable tech, for me it's easily plasma over LCD.

You lucky bastard, got a new TV for the main living room with the missus last year and she wouldn't quite stretch to Panasonic prices. Had to settle for an LG LCD, which is nice, but aside from the stupidly brilliant Smart TV functions my 4 year old Panny plasma is still better.

    Pretty awesome!
It took me till 10pm to get all the cables re-organised and everything tidyish:

I had a quick look at Skyfall, Sucker Punch and Bolt and then a very quick burst of gaming with DMC and the picture quality is superb, seems clearly better than my GT30. Even gf commented that "seems that you can see more detail".
Thankfully the sunny weather has turned to crap so I have a rainy weekend to play lots.

I think we'll be watching The Hobbit on Blu-Ray tonight :-)

Nicely done, i even think it looks more at home than your other tv did from your last pic :).

Is it bigger than your GT30?

    Looking good! :)

I'll probably get my new TV this month. Going for the LG LED 3d smart tv. I know you guys are all plasma fans but not for me and I like the passive 3d system, magic wand, and copious apps for it. I just need to decide on the 47 inch or the 55.

    Thanks mate.

    55 clearly.

Nice buy. I hate you. ;)

So, we're all agreed that anybody who doesn't own a Panny plasma is either gay, or a paedo. Jolly good.

    Clearly.

    I'm Panny LED.

Does that make me "camp, but I'd trust him in the pub car park"?

I just watched The Hobbit Blu-Ray.
Bloody hell, I'm well impressed, the black levels are stunning, as is the image overall, a clear step up from the GT30.

Genuine question ecosse, why didn't you get a Panny projector instead? I 'heart' my Panny plasma, but if I had a room suitable for a projector, as it looks like yours is, I'd upgrade to that. Would likely be cheaper than the 65" plasma if nothing else.

The projector and it's fans would be above my head annoying me, the picture quality wouldn't be better and I couldn't really project a much bigger image than the TV with this room.

At least that's what I though, I didn't strongly consider it tbh.
