    From the new snapshot:

    Improved enchanting
You can enchant up to level 30 only
15 bookshelves are enough to reach the new maximum level
Adjusted enchantments to fit the new maximum level
Maximum level is always shown in enchantment table, so you don't have to spam the item to get maximum level.
    Made experience easier to acquire
You get experience from mining ores
You get experience from smelting items

    Why?

I've noticed Fruit doing this a lot recently but that seems to be when he sobers up and edits his posts.

Deleted posts cause several days worth of posts to go missing. A new post brings them back. So Fruit has got into the habit of editing his posts rather than deleting them.

I am in an amazing lava area I have opened up.It has now had five seperate deposits of diamond. But this has the extra dangerous thrill of lava being above and below. And whats seems to be all around.

The fourth diamond find bit me hard when the gravel gave way to a lava flow overhead, and wiped away the 5 diamonds i had just dug out and all my nicely enchanted armour and weapons.[The armour was mostly on the ay out anyway].

I had an empty bucket on me,I should have filled with water. But I guess I foolishly love danger, and opening up lava to see how widespread it is.
So far the area I opened up is 100 blocks wide on each side, and on three sides has lava pouring out, from above or infront.Plus the floor one block below is lava to.

They say you should never play with fire, well they should throw lava in there to.

I hope people start playing this again when the new version hits.

The new snapshot was out today, I haven't tried it but supposedly performance has been greatly improved, especially in the Nether, which is an issue we'd encountered on spin's server. 1.3 is out next week so at the moment most of the changes are just bug fixes and performance improvements. They're really making this in to a solid game now.

Surprised nobody has mentioned horizontal logs yet. The Minecraft community seems to be going nuts over them.

Decoration purposes I guess, but other than that I concur Mr B.

Also, been loving sticky pistons today, I amazed myself at making a 2x2 opening floor. I fkn rock* \o/

*is aware this is very basic

Yeah, they're for decoration. The game needs more stuff like that imo.

Been watching a load of YT vids by a guy called monkeyfarm recently and the PC version looks so much more varied and fun.

Can't wait for things like Endermen, jungle trees, villagers etc to make it over to 360.

Very envious of you PC guys who've been playing this for yonks watching the game evolve around you.

The Xbox version probably won't ever get a lot of the features from the PC. The PC game is getting features at a faster rate than the Xbox and it's already so far ahead..

Endermen are annoying though. :p I wouldn't miss them.
  • Deleted user 26 July 2012 17:23:05
Yeah that's sort of what I'm assuming tbh, but it's nice to dream of making an enchanted pickaxe one day :)

Kind of worried about the performance on my fair-to-middling laptop now that it's basically running a server as well. Anyone tried the release candidates?

Must remember to back up the jar file in case I need to go back.

The performance has supposedly been greatly increased. Seen reports of framerates doubling from 20 to 40fps on older hardware.

Zoinks! I'll believe that when I see it!

Think I'll give this a whirl tonight, the list of changes is rather large. And I want to make some Ender Chests. :)

Hmm....! My integrated graphics card is the bottleneck, so it'll be interesting to see if there's any change for me.

Actually those posts reminded me - not updating if Optifine's not updated as well. :)
