WOW sex changes available in Europe

Paid customisation crosses ocean.

Blizzard has launched its World of Warcraft character re-customisation service for players on European servers. It's available from the "Manage Account" page of the official website.

As we revealed when it appeared in the US last month, the service allows you to change your character's gender, skin colour, facial features and name - as well as the customisations available from in-game barbershops, like hair style and jewellery.

The cost of the service over here is EUR 15 or GBP 12. Pretty cheap for a sex change.

i want to change race. Why can't i do that if i pay for it?
  • ChthonicEcho #2 3 years ago

I'm not a WoW player, but that's just a silly joke, and an even sillier serious question. Female and male don't differ in a way that affects gameplay, races do.

    Race-Class restrictions.
  • ZuluHero #4 3 years ago

ofc - but i should be able to do it if the race that im switching to has the same class? For example human->Nelf?

  • Eurolamer #5 3 years ago

Can I keep mine in a jar? Or perhaps turn it into some kind of necklace for my character?

That would provoke all kinds of complaints of in-game racism from the less-intelligent WoW players, though. There's also faction matters to consider.

slow news day?... this has been in place for about 3months now..
  • rudedudejude #8 3 years ago

I think they should also charge you to install the game, another charge to login, and also a paid uninstall service.

You cant change race because it would mess up the class restrictions. E.g A night elf druid could not become human since humans can't be druids... see?

stevetuck, it's been in place for one month in the US, and I believe is new to European servers, unless somebody knows better.

    @Chimpy

    You're missing my point.

A human Rogue (my class/race) could easily become a Night Elf rogue (as per my earlier example) . Or a Gnome rogue. Or a Dwarf rogue. Etc Etc. Remember im not talking defecting here - although that would be cool. EQ2 did that and the questline was awesome! :)

Getting back to the point - The only implication i could see was the change in racial abilities. But Iokthemonkey actually brought up the best vaild point for the reasons against this. Which if im reading it correctly is this:

A change in faction would really mess up your reputation standings. For example a human exhalted with SW changing to a NElf would have huge sweeping complications/changes.

I guess at that point i would argue that a change in race shouldn't take this into account, but i can see that sort of thing causing a riot in the WoW community...

    See? ;)

    Zuluhero-

Character customisation is just that- comsetic. I don't think Blizzard want to change anything that would affect gameplay and that includes racial abilities and faction consequences.
  • shamblemonkee #14 3 years ago

Oli, I took advantage of this before Christmas (account management says: 16th December).

So while its fairly dusty news I guess late is better than never. Subscribers would probably already know though.
  • Chimpy #15 3 years ago

WAR's system of colouring armour was great for that.
  • iokthemonkey #16 3 years ago

I hated it when I'd go into a town in WOW and see everybody wearing the exact same outfits with the same weapons, etc. For one, I really hated the "oversized = AWESOME!" approach the designers took to the characters (I had a Rogue and the only "better" swords I could find were about three feet wide, which was ludicrous) but also the fact that everybody I saw was in the same gear.

WoW is desperately in need of some additional customisation options, especially for gear.

Race, name, appearance and sex changes: the wealthy ninja's best friend!

Don't like the poor reputation you've built up? A new life is only €15 away!

Why would you be anything but human? Diplomacy = WIN
  • ZuluHero #19 3 years ago

"Guild WAR's system of colouring armour was great for that. [/i]"

    Fixed! ;)

December 15th it was announced. I suspect Oli had one hell of a Christmas/New Year and is a bit hazy on everything that happened before Jan 1st

" Why would you be anything but human? Diplomacy = WIN "

Indervidual item scamming, Yes. But If the guild is even 1/10th decent, It will use Teamspeak/Vent, So this plan fails XD

  • wowgoldpaladin #25 3 years ago

I've been waiting for this service for quite a while now. I've just iffed that it costs real money and not in-game wow gold. I'm a poor student as it is!
