Wii Sports Resort has table tennis, golf News

Wii News by Oli Welsh

19 May, 2009

A Japanese TV commercial for Wii MotionPlus has revealed two more of the mini-game sports for Wii Sports Resort: table tennis and golf.

Brief glimpses of the sports can be seen in the ad. They join the sword-fighting, frisbee and jetski racing games revealed (and very much enjoyed by us) at last year's E3.

Golf, of course, was in the original Wii Sports; presumably Nintendo felt that the addition of MotionPlus finesse to the walk-ruining pastime was enough to justify revisiting it.

Wii Sports Resort is released in Europe on 24th July, bundled with the MotionPlus add-on. You'll also be able to pick up a MotionPlus as a standalone accessory, or bundled with EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis, at the earlier date of 12th June.

We expect to have more on Wii Sports Resort from E3 in a couple of weeks.

Probably getting it then. Golf in Wii Sports was the only thing I spent more than 2 minutes on.

The Table Tennis in this could be really special if this remote really is as good as people are saying.

Pong sold controllers to the masses, Wii Sports Tennis sold waggle to the masses and WS:R Table Tennis could sell 1:1 motion control to the masses.

I really really really want this and it comes out on my birthday HOORAY!

I hope we get a few more niche sports. Something like white water kayaking could be good. I'd quite like to see badminton and cricket make an appearance as well.

We need more than 5 sports. Oh don't forget to include the original Wii Sports.

I'm surprised it took this long to find out about the other sports.

More sports would of course be nicer, but it's an idle hope at the moment and I won't be TOO disappointed if there isn't

I love how loads of people have been moaning about the Wii being so rubbish yet everyone still has one over the past 12 months! Why aren you exchanging or selling them if you hate it so much? It's because all those keeping it in the attic know we'll still see games like Mario, Zelda, DK, Metroid etc... from them again!
Fair play to those who have been criticizing Nintendo and got rid of your Wii though because at least you've been honest with your opinion. It's been a really dissapointing year for Nintendo when it comes to games for hardcore gamers with very few games to play but I've always stuck by them because I believe we'll see some good games at E3 this year!
