Wii FFIV story DLC available now

Nintendo's online refresher offers lots.

Nintendo's Friday online refresher brings brand-new content for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, in the shape of Chapter 9 - The Crystals - the final part in the expansive RPG story. You can take it to the bridge for 800 Wii Points (approximately £6.75 - points bought online are cheaper).

Fellow WiiWare game Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord gains a handful of new items, including A Fateful Clash!, Gloomy Armband, Wailing Doll and Kain. They range from 200 to 500 Wii Points (approx. £1.75 to £4.25).

On WiiWare itself is shape-rearrangement game Spaceball: Revolution, which is heavy on the aim and brain, and costs 800 Wii Points (approx £6.75).

Over on DSiWare, meanwhile, can be found 2-in-1 Solitaire - a bundle of Spider and Klondike versions of the card game. This only costs 200 DSi Points (approx £2 - confusingly, DSi Points are more expensive).

The new content continues onto Virtual Console, where old arcade games Solomon's Key and Rygar are up for grabs, at 500 and 600 Wii Points (£4.25 to £5, respectively) a pop.

It's a busy week; go mental.

Gloomy Armband? is that to cover the emo scars?

Have these FFIV chapters been that much per chapter? That makes for one hell of an expensive game!

no, ninja. only the first and last parts are that expensive. still an expensive game in total.

That's actually poor form tbh. Granted, there may be more in the final chapter to warrant a higher price, but it seems like they're charging an audience more for the ending, just because they believe that the audience will pay to find out how the game ends.

I think Cyclone hits the nail on the head. This is why episodic gaming and DLC is a bad, bad idea, because people are people, and companies are companies. It is - like communism - a good idea in theory only.

The real question ... why Wii and DSi points are different in term of costs?! There is no other rationale than to confuse and fleece gamers!

Apple iTune games are just as equally tosh but there are a few quality gems there that are vastly cheaper than DSi offerings?!

Nintendo need to wise up I think to the pricing policy

Here's hoping once they finish they'll bundle all the chapters together at a discount.... ... maybe?

The only thing I'd be interested in is the Solitaire bundle. If I had a DSi.

I haven't bothered with the After Years because of the way it's been broken into chapters and still has seperate optional pieces of DLC as well.. It's just so confusing and expensive. I'm holding out for a complete port going to XBLA or PSN.

i wish the after years had a fred savage style narration accompanied by nostalgic finger-picked acoustic guitar.

Picked it up and Christ, I really should've leveled up my characters in their respective tales first. Problem is, I couldn't be bothered to tackle the optional Challenge Dungeons at the end of the chapters, so I'm currently getting my ass kicked all over the world. It's like Street Fighter Alpha 3 basically.
