Third LEGO Star Wars game revealed

Based on Clone Wars. Dolly good.

LucasArts and TT Games have announced LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, and said the game will be released this autumn.

This third instalment is in development for DS, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360.

The animated Clone Wars television series provides chief inspiration here, and all of the familiar faces from the show will be recreated. There will even be some fan-favourites from the Star Wars films making appearances.

New inventions include head-to-head battles with friends and an upgraded level builder, which offers base and battlefield customisation.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars lets players be either Jedi or Separatist, and there are new gameplay features such as squad command, Lightsaber slice, Lightsaber jump, long-range Jedi attack and Grapple Tie-Ups to enjoy.

LEGO Star Wars was where LEGO's and TT Games' brick-based love-in all began, of course - before Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and Batman.

    Dear Lucasarts,

Please stop making games based on the Clone Wars...nobody wants them...and forget the prequels as well.
The only thing people care about is the classic trilogy.

This is actually the fourth LEGO Star Wars game, after LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

Some people might argue that LSW:TCS doesn't count, but it was a lot more than just the two previous games stuck together.

Well, would you rather they stopped making LEGO games and went back to making other classics like Transformers The Movie?

CallousB - Actually, I prefer the clone wars timeline to the original series timeline.

If it digs up inspiration from the original Clone Wars series and the comics, fabulous. If it goes for the latest mostly-pap series (which I'm sure it will), much less exciting.

    Yawn..no one cares.

Lego Star Wars: The Clown Wars, we all knew it was coming but that doesn't make it any less disappointing to hear. Star Wars is and always will be about Rebels and Stormtroopers, Han and Chewie, Luke and Vader, not clones and droids and weird insect-like aliens.

TT should have left their Star Wars at Complete Saga (my only experience of the prequels and glad of it) and moved onto parodying another franchise, LOTR maybe, or Marvel Comics. And Lucas Arts should quit scraping the prequel barrel and get back to what Star Wars is about, where's that Stormtrooper game that was hinted at so long ago? Where's Battlefront 3? and if we really must have a prequel game, what the hell happened to Sev and the gang? Give us Republic Commando 2 so we can find out.

The new Clone Wars series is very good so this should be interesting.

Once Travellers Tales has gone as far as they can with lego, we should expect to see more diverse titles like:

    - K'nex Star Wars
    - Duplo Batman
    - Technic Indiana Jones

Without the crap scriptwriting and direction of George Lucas behind it, The Clone Wars TV series has been mostly good, and the second season is almost all great. If you saw and hated the movie, try the episodes 'Rookies' and the Paul Dini-scripted 'Cloak of Darkness', they're pretty good - with that first one introducing battle droids who are actually a credible threat.

As for a Lego game... well, at least it'll be one good Clone Wars game. They at least have been s**t so far.
  • makeamazing #14 2 years ago

They could do with moving on from Star Wars games in the lego franchise.

F**k off LucasArts, and come back when you've made one of the following Star Wars games:

Knights of the Old Republic 3
    X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter (remake/sequel)
    Dark Forces 3
    Battlefront 3
    Rogue Squadron 4

I would also accept decent updates to your SCUMM games. No-one wants your crappy Lego whoring.

How about making LEGO Star Wars: Holiday Special? That would be epic.
  • deli2000 #17 2 years ago

a Lego star wars game? good.
    Based on clone wars? bad!
Now give us Lego star wars battlefront and I'll be happy

My hand is up for a remake of X-Wing. Not versus as it had no engaging storyline, although online battles are obviously desirable.

Come on Lucasarts, give us Classic Star Destroyers, Tie Fighters, bombers and interceptors and fucking X-Wings please!
