Ambush! Pew pew pew!

Microsoft has confirmed that Sensible World of Soccer will be released on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow and revealed that it will be joined by Tempest.

The long-awaited SWOS will go for 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30), while Tempest will be 400 (GBP 3.40 / EUR 4.65). Both will be released with demo versions at 9am GMT on Wednesday, 19th December.

Both games feature original and enhanced graphical options, along with the usual 12 unlockable Achievements for 200 gamerpoints. SWOS of course features online play too.

I'll be getting both of these. SWOS is one of my all time favourite games. I will get Tempest just to see if it is indeed better than SG, which I found unplayable.

Hurray, two more shite games for me to try out and delete! LOL

Sorry but SWOS might have been a game that kept me glued to my Amiga in my younger days - and, yes, I loved it back then - but it's horribly dated these days and plays more like ping-pong than football. I have the game for the WinUAE Amiga emulator and it hasn't aged too well IMO.

I just can't play the original Tempest since Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar. It's one of a rare breed, a game that is actually worth owning a console for.

Heathen! I've been playing on DosBox and i think its lost none of its class.... Will be intresting playing it on a pad as opposed to my really old Joystick... but playing online is where its going to be at! hope you can still rename your custom team!

I still have the Amiga to play SWOS on but it just looks naff on modern TVs...

I have one fear about the xbl version... I wont be able to play it with a joypad after 10years+ of using a proper joystick.

It better have the song too.

There was no sign of this when I left the house at 9:40 this morning but no sign of Tempest either, so I guess its M$ holding things up rather than general SWOS problems!!

I have it and it is amazing.

Its apparently been removed now though because the online stuff doesn't work. It signs you out of xbl as soon as you load the game !

Ber-illiant!! I've just been looking at the Codies forums and they say they and M$ are looking into the issues people are experiencing!

As you say, the saga continues.......not aware of other XBLA titles playing up like this! Typical!!

its been taken off due to the live load up issue.

i did have it this morning for the trial version - completely met my expectations and was great. still can remember all the angles to score.

however you need to play against someone other than the computer to get the most from it. if the live part delivers then i will be chuffed....

speedball was very disappointing but this looks spot on. how bad and boring is tempest in comparsion!

Sucks. Really looking forward to this. How could such a blatant error make it through testing? Hope they just put up an older build by mistake (or some other excuse I can lie to myself with to hold out a little hope).
