Sony details PAIN Amusement Park
More online bits and trophy support soon.
Sony has launched lots more information about its Amusement Park add-on for PAIN.
It will be out later this summer and will hop on the trophy support bandwagon, according to Sony spokesperson Travis Williams on the official US blog.
Amusement Park also finally lets you invite friends into your world over the Internet, rather than limiting you to the existing mini-game spin-offs.
Inside the park are giant hot and cold teddy bears, rollercoasters, rides, stalls, and all the clutter you expect from a wildly exaggerated theme park.
"Bouncing clowns that need tossing and smacking?" asks Williams, suggesting they'll be in.
PAIN came out on PSN early last year and got lots of claps. The idea is to launch your rag-doll into things so it hurts itself and smashes the place up. If you can keep your momentum up and chain your pain together then you can get big points.
Williams also left a cryptic little message about the new area that will follow Amusement Park. "Oh. My. Good-Goobly-Goo," teased Williams. What?

I have nothing whatsoever to say about that sentence.

Are we just going to see loads of mini games being released on PSN that get "updates" making it more expensive than an actual game?
I feel a reach around coming on...

Yep. Pain is good for half an hour at a time on your own but with others you can have hours of fun.
Online is a must and you shoudl be able to have more than one player per console as well (but that won't happen will it?)

Well firstly, as always, you don't have to buy it if the price doesn't suit you. And secondly, Pain IS an actual game.

guess enjoyment is directly proportional to how much you like watching ragdolls flail around (which for me is a lot)

I never said it wasn't a game, but its hardly jam packed full fat AA title. And seeing as demos of PSN games are not really available you can't really judge price worth and its not like you can trade it on or re sell it.
I am just worried about DLC in general... that and i wanted to use the phrase "reach around"

I thought that at first, but with all the various little challenges and unlocks there is way more than 30 mins of play in it. As for it not being worth a measly £5, well I guess we will have to agree to disagree on that one. I would consider it an archetypal bargain.
@Zander
On the issue of demos, I have to agree. I'm not sure if having a demo is mandatory on XBLA, but all the games I can bring to mind seem to work that way. Nothing on the PSN Store has a demo, and that is a real pain in the butt sometimes.

The trick with the mime toss is to grab the mime from the side using an outstretched hand, so you and mime end up spinning around each other like a bolas. You can then time your release to send the mime in the direction you want. With a bit of practice you can get pretty accurate.

yeah can manage to do that for the first difficulty, but its some of the more awkward ones later on that are tricky
might have another go tonight

That along with the excellent multiplayer was a bargain and I would be happy to pay for another arena.
@the_dudefather
...you probably already know this, I only mention it because it took me ages to find, anyway, you can 'ooch' with the dpad as you spin though the air before you release the mime.

crickey, never knew that, thought you could only do it after being hurt
it was probably covered in the 3 hour tutorial at some point though

Playing it on your own just doesn't work.
So for those bashing it... go get some friends and some beers
