Sony dates key titles

Heavenly Sword, WarHawk.

Semi-official Sony blog ThreeSpeech has opened up and stamped dates on key upcoming PS3 titles.

First out will be WarHawk, which according to the site is aiming for a 28th August release on the PlayStation Network, and a 21st September release to retail stores on Blu-ray.

Those of you downloading it should expect to shell out GBP 19.99 (EUR 29) for it, while others waiting for the Blu-ray disc with extra video content, manual and Bluetooth headset will pay GBP 39.99 (EUR 59).

Next up is Heavenly Sword, which Sony seems to have finally confirmed for release on the much rumoured 14th September date. Followed by Folklore and Lair on 12th and 26th October respectively - although neither is set in stone.

ThreeSpeech also approached Sony for a solid date on the eagerly awaited SingStar PS3. Unfortunately one wasn't forthcoming, and the blog's best guess at the moment is October.

Okay then....Mhunter Freedom 2 on the 7th, followed by Heavenly Sword on the 21st.

That is how I shall spend my September spondulicks.
  • afghan_jones #2 5 years ago

I dated a key title once. It ended badly when I found out that Sony had also dated her.

    bitch.

£20 for the Warhawk download sounds fine to me.
  • reddevil93 #4 5 years ago

I'm definatly getting the download version now.And only €30! :)

    I like UK:R, therefore I hate ThreeSpeech.
  • Cannibal #6 5 years ago

I predict an 8/10 and a 7/10 for Heavenly Sword and Lair respectively. Anyone else want to get in on this action?
  • zuljin #7 5 years ago

Bioshock to satisfy single player gaming, Warhawk to satisfy multiplayer.

All before September - Christmas rush of games...

    @Cannibal
    7/10 - 5/10. 8/10 for Warhawk...

thats a pretty big price differential between retail and download!

I think its great and Warhawk is one of the titles tempting me towards the PS3.

I'm sure the retailers aren't overly chuffed with it, though.

"I predict an 8/10 and a 7/10 for Heavenly Sword and Lair respectively. Anyone else want to get in on this action?"

    7/10 6/10 and 9/10 for WarHawk.

Im dubious about HS and Lair to be honest. I thought the demo of HS was pretty poor. Warhawk however interests me but I cant see me being finished with Bioshock by then and Halo 3 is just round the corner.

Still 20 quid puts it in the tempting bracket.

Sorry bout this (I don't work for Play honest), but Play.com are selling Warhawk for £33:

So thats a bluetooth headset + other malarkies for £13. I'd be tempted if only it was released at the same time.
  • Steroyd #12 5 years ago

Blah i'm still wary of buying non-physical stuff and I haven't got a headset, would have been nice if both retail and PSN were launched on the same day but i'll wait till September.
  • spliffhead #13 5 years ago

Import the boxed version for £31 from Movietyme and get it even before it hits PSN.

I didn't think Threespeach was anything to do with Sony, or at least that's what Sony said when they made those comments about MajorNelson...
  • JediMasterMalik #16 5 years ago

  • JYM60 #17 5 years ago

    Warhawk this MONTH!!!!!!

Woohoo, screw you retail pack. :)
  • captainrentboy #18 5 years ago

I wanna play ''guess the new release score'' too.
Ok, Heavenly Sword-7/10, looks sweet enough, but it's nothing new really is it?
Lair-6 maybe even 5/10, looks bloody awful, and rather drab to me :/
    Warhawk-8/10, just because.
    Whilst I'm here.
Halo 3-8/10, I can sense that the Campaign will be a huge letdown, especially after Bioshock. If the Multi-Player aspect gets its own review that'll be a 9 or 10.
Stranglehold- 7/10, over faaar too quickly.
    and COD 4-9/10.
If I get all of them right, I must be some kind of psychic.

  • DanC89 #20 5 years ago

    £20, and on my birthday...yum.

"I didn't think Threespeach was anything to do with Sony, or at least that's what Sony said when they made those comments about MajorNelson..."

I would agree but then the published a HS review were it said:

"Heavenly Sword is amazing to behold, seriously addictive, pleasingly original, in that it manages not to feel like any other game you’ve played..."

    Original?
  • IronGiant #22 5 years ago

There is a Heavenly Sword review around but having never read Play before i can't be sure how much to take from them giving it 10/10!

    "100 Play Magazine
What MotorStorm has become to racing and Odin Sphere to action role-playing, Heavenly Sword is now to 3D action: Perfection. [Sept 2007, p.17] "
  • JYM60 #23 5 years ago

LOL, can't wait to see what HS reviews are like. Could go either way I think. It should at least be a good read. :)

I'm startig to think it could be really good but I'll not be getting it at launch anyway.
  • gmmonkey #24 5 years ago

    Sorry, it ain't bioshock.
  • mkreku #25 5 years ago

I'm hoping at least one of these titles turns out to be good. Sony definitely needs a break.

Or maybe it's the alcohol in my veins speaking.
  • captainrentboy #26 5 years ago

But isn't Heavenly Sword just God Of War, but instead of a bald angry chap it's a ginger chick who has awfully animated hair? Oh, and it has a few Shenmue-esque QTEs chucked in for good measure....
    It's silly to generalise, yes?
Bioshock, it would appear, rocks! And maybe this will too, don't get your panties in a twist confounder.
And the 360 'exclusive' on a PC thing is terrible, it's an age old dig, but it doesn't really work. I'll be playing Bioshock on a 50" HDTV next week from the comfort of my couch, and on a gaming rig that didn't cost me almost a grand, and doesn't need continuous expensive upgrades.
  • IronGiant #27 5 years ago

Indeed yes, plenty of good games on the PS2 :)
  • slickster #28 5 years ago

why is people talking about bioshock.the ps3 is geting it in spring 2008.i cant wait for warhawk £20 cheap as chips....

"You're right. It's Heavenly Sword. It's not the upteenth FPS with dark dingy graphics where you just shoot stuff. Best of all, I doubt you will see Heavenly Sword on PC.

What's the point of an Xbox 360 if all the good stuff on it are coming out on PC as well. Halo 3 will be out on PC and it'll be graphically better."

Hahah, this made me laugh so hard. Envy is a sweet thing when your at the other end. ;p

But regarding to the topic, I agree: could go either way. Either its a huge letdown or its "ok" but nothing more I quess.
    We will see.

    Envy?,
Might buy Heavenly Sword, but I'm not deluding myself
    The line-up is weak
  • Vandrius #31 5 years ago

I think you simplified things a little, Confounder, but thats how I think things will go too. Its all guesswork, though. MS might convert enough this christmas that it is gets enough momentum... but the internet fans are putting way too much emphasis on Halo 3 as a selling point - its the 360 geek-game, not a system seller.

captainrentboy: Rofl!? First you say its an unfair comparison due to high costs of a PC, then you say you'll be playing it on a 50" HDTV.

Xbox + HDTV, if its a good one, cost ALOT more than a just-under-top level PC with a 24" monitor (monitor has MUCH better picture quality).

Secondly... playing a FPS while lounging on your couch? I don't know about you, but trying to play a FPS while lying sideways with my head side-on to the TV... I tried that, and failed - miserably. You need to be sitting up and in-line with the TV for a FPS.

Sorry, I just saw the argument and had to poke holes in it.
  • captainrentboy #32 5 years ago

It's personal choice, that I play it on a big ole hdtv :/ That's neither here nor there, as it's not an actual necessity to get the game up and running.
If another, less obsessed with gadgets, gamer wanted to play Bioshock, but had neither a decent enough PC or a 360 to play it on, one option is considerably cheaper, and just generally less hassle, than the other.
    That's what I meant, clever clogs. :)
  • RexRunti #33 5 years ago

OK first of all comparing Bioshock to Heavenly Sword is apples to oranges, even if Bioshock is 10/10 and HS almost certainly won't be.

Secondly I have a kick arse PC and still buy most multiplatform games on my 360 (anything bar RTSs).

And thirdly, Confounder, someone who pays £425 for a games console is not a casual gamer. Though I do agree that the 360 is too hardcore focused currently and the Wii is too casual focused. That said I think it's the hardcore who actually spend money on games (see game to console ratios).

    >"I can sense that the Campaign will be a huge letdown, especially after Bioshock. "

    Oh here we go again.
This is how the anti-bioshock hype continues. WHY MUST EVERYTHING BE COMPARED TO BIOSHOCK?

Is it not possible for any fps as from now on to be good on thier own merit? Are all fps games now gonna get no more than 8 because they aren't as good as bioshock?
