Sackboy joins ModNation Racers cast

Plus: more US pre-order bonuses.

Sony has announced LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy will be joining the cast of drivers in the upcoming ModNation Racers.

The presence of Media Molecule's familiar hero - who comes with his own ramshackle cardboard kart - was hinted at yesterday and officially confirmed today via a post on the US PlayStation blog.

Sackboy will be available to US purchasers who pre-order the game from Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop or Game Crazy, as well as day-one purchasers who buy specially marked copies on 25th May.

No word yet on how European racers can get their steering wheel hands on Sackboy, but a Sony representative told Eurogamer, "We'll be announcing how you get Sackboy in Europe soon."

The blog also revealed that US pre-orderers at the four retailers listed above will get one of four additional sets of kart and racer accessories on top of any retailer-exclusive packs announced last month. Which specific mod pack players receive is dependent on the "luck of the draw", according to the post.

    So the obvious question here is of course, will it be our own sackboy or a generic one? If it's the first one, colour me interested, otherwise blah.

    Presumed we'd see sackboy in this game.

    Slightly suprised they've not changed his design to suit the rest of the special characters but i don't rearly mind.

    Don't think i'll get it at release seeing how LBP plumeted in price a few month later but i'm easily convinced

    @Fubdub : A generic one of course.

    @ Fubdub
    Give it a month or so and a patch will be launched for LBP to let MNR-owners use one of their own MNR-characters in LBP. Cameo-alert! Hell, we'll charge you £ 1.50 for it too!

    Do we know if these pre-order costumes/karts are parts and textures for you to construct and use as you like or are they fixed pre-set items?

    @farticusmaximus

    There seems to be codes going around for the PSP Verson so expect it will be made a general release in a week or two for both platforms
