PSP to get new Rock Band title

Complete with wireless shizzle-dizzle.

A new Rock Band game is in development for PSP.

The news was just announced at the Destination PlayStation event in the US, as reported by Videogaming247.

Apparently it'll be titled Rock Band Unplugged and will have Wi-Fi functionality. That includes an in-game shop selling downloadable content, which has never featured before in a PSP game.

Rock Band Unplugged has been confirmed for both the US and Europe, though there's no word on a release date as yet.

I'm interested to see how this one is going to work. It's going to be very boring if it's just pushing the buttons.

agreed, yet surely peripherals (though possible due to the mini usb port at the top of the psp) will spank the battery....though they could have their own batteries I suppose. Presumeably there will be different packs depending on what instrument you want to play though that will probably mean that everyone ends up getting the guitar version. Anyways, as already said.....Interesting.

Sounds like it will be similar to Amplitude.

Decent PSP announcements. Hopefully there'll be more coming!

What's so revolutionary/"never featured before" about the DLC? The fact you have to pay for it in an "in-game shop"? Because Exit had DLC 3 years ago.

Amplitude was good, so it might not fail if it's anything like that.

"agreed, yet surely peripherals (though possible due to the mini usb port at the top of the psp) will spank the battery"#

And of course there's the more obvioius flaw of defeating the point of it being on a portable console...

Curious. I can only hope it fairs better than Guitar Hero on the DS. I have quite a lot of faith in Harmonix though, so it maybe it'll work out?

That doesn't sound like a good idea. I look forward to being proved wrong, though.

Does anyone on here know (Eurogamer?) when they plan to release RB2 for the PS3 in the UK? Been waiting ferlippin ages now...

Oh, further reports seem to indicate that it's pretty much a follow up to Amplitude, which they couldn't make because Sony didn't want them to. Shouldn't be too bad then.
