PSP LBP getting premium level DLC? News

PSP News by Robert Purchese

3 August, 2009

Sony and Media Molecule may be looking to charge for downloadable levels in LittleBigPlanet PSP.

Evidence comes from Siliconera, which spotted a menu screen sporting "Story Levels", "Downloaded Levels" and "Purchased Levels" options.

There are currently very few pay-to-play LBP level packs available, simply as the bulk are created by the community and not Media Molecule. This latest move may mean taking a much more proactive role in the future.

Mm does charge for costumes and tool kit content, however.

LittleBigPlanet was announce for PSP back in February. There is no date for the game yet, although we have been told it will arrive sometime this year. It's looking good, too, as a freshly published trailer on Eurogamer TV shows.

Why would people pay for levels when there are bound to be hundreds free?

Because people want stuff that is done by pro-developers. I've played some great user levels, but the MGS pack was just fantastic.

LBP could do with some sort of monthly or quarterly awards ceremony, where MM pop something up in game showing you the must try levels for that particular period.

Remember people, you have a choice. So don't act (whine) like you don't :)

The MGS levels were better than any other levels i have played in LBP, so hopefully Mm can put out more stuff of that quality.

I wonder if they'll ever let players sell their LBP levels, like XBL "Indie" games?

I think those that own PSPs but not PS3 are interested.

So not owning a PS3 myself but hearing good things, is one of the reasons I have kept my PSP all this time. Not sure about this premium level DLC stuff though but each to his own.

Also I imagine it will be difficult to create levels on a PSP but I could be wrong (again) so they will have a captive audience.
