UK charts: Wii Fit still on top

Skate 2, My Fitness Coach perform well too.

Wii Fit has seen off the competition to remain atop the UK all-formats chart for a second week running.

Best-seller Call of Duty: World at War also digs in, forcing newcomer Skate 2 to spend a first week at three.

EA claims the next two spaces with FIFA 09 and Lord of the Rings: Conquest, respectively, before the immovable Wii Play steps in at six.

Ubisoft capitalises on the January gym rush with new entry My Fitness Coach for Wii at seven, which is followed by a slight boost for Mario Kart Wii at eight.

Tomb Raider: Underworld manages to climb from 33 to nine this week after the PS2 release.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village re-enters the chart and rounds off the top 10, thanks to retailers buying some stock.

This week waves goodbye to Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, Resistance 2 and Midnight Club: Los Angeles.

    I just bought Wii Fit.

It really is very motivating. The muscle exercises are tough, and the other excercises are good fun. Plus, the missus loves it, so I don't have to watch bad soaps in the evening.

I saw loads of fat people buying Fitness Coach the other day.

    Its the new atkins.

I'm gonna go out and buy My Fitness Coach. I know it's a glorified fitness DVD, but that's pretty much what I want anyway, I was just never able to decide which celebrity endorsed DVD I wanted to punish myself with, and this saves the day!

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest is out on DS as well. Probably not good, but it is out.

I find it odd that LBP is so low, when it seems to be top (or thereabouts) of most retailers games charts atm and has been for a few weeks now.

I'm still occasionally popping onto the Wii Fit six months later and I've lost half a stone (I didn't have much to use). It's the only thing that the Wii gets used for in my house. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it as a purchase. I've got other machines for playing games on and encouraging me to sit still for hours on end! I'm vaguely intrigued by the Fitness Coach thingy...

Retailers gamecharts are pulled freshly out of thin air each morning.

I spoke to the guys in GAME shortly after discovering Fallout 3 was number one in their chart about 3 seconds after the doors opened on release day. Unsurprisingly EA, Sony, Microsoft etc. pay for their big releases' (in store) chart placings.

"I find it odd that LBP is so low, when it seems to be top (or thereabouts) of most retailers games charts atm and has been for a few weeks now. "

Retailers make their "charts" based on what product they wanne sell (or what is over stocked).

How on earth is Professor Layton in there?

I've been looking to get a copy for weeks and it's no where to be find. I had to get it at great expense online in the end!

I don't wanna live in a world where this happens.

When's that space tourism industry gonna really take off?

For goodness sake...CoD is out for the DS but NOT for the PSP??!!

What is wrong with Sony this time around?! Couldn't they have sponsored or at least encouraged the development of a PSP version?

I'd have bought it definitely - my PSP has been reduced to an MP3 player and some downloads from PlayStation.com - it's a crying shame that no one is making use of the technology in the PSP.

It's also a real shame that Sony is not allowed homebrewed games to flourish on it, favouring instead big projects and sinking homebrews into the underworld of hacked handhelds.

    Professor Layton?! Vapourware surely.

    Smuggo,

only in the sense that Jadie Goodie's annual aerobics DVD is ruining the DVD charts.

its not really meant for you, so just ignore it. maybe laugh at the lameness of it a bit :)

I got wii fit recently and found it a lot of tosh tbh. I thought it might make exercise interesting or fun, but it's just a glorified yoga/stretching manual with a few shitty games. Shawn White's Snowboarding is a bit better, but the balance board doesn't give any feedback which is a problem as a controller. Might sell it on for a profit.
