PES 2008 DS/PSP details

And dates.

Konami has broken down in front of everyone and confessed to how the DS and PSP versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 work and when they're out.

According to the Japanese publisher, people like you will be able to buy both of them in Q1 2008, with PS3, 360, PS2 and PC versions already on the market.

The PSP version is said to have "a lot in common" with the PS2 version, including tournaments and leagues and a new World Tour mode "wherein users are set a series of challenges as they tour the globe".

A full Edit mode is in there, and the data-sharing element now allows you to swap Master League, League, World Tour and Cup Mode data between the PSP and PS2 versions so players can "continue building their team while away from their home system".

Meanwhile, the DS version has Exhibition, Penalty Shoot-Out and Konami Cup, a World Tour variant and a network mode for four-player multiplayer games.

You can also swap players with friends and collect coins to buy the world's best players perhaps like Fernando "Liverpool have their very own Thierry Henry" Torres.

So look out for those in Q1.

It doesn't. Last year's effort was akin to watching ants run around on a Tesco bag

"So look out for those in Q1."

and look out for a lag patch in Q2.
    and another in Q3.
and when they give up trying to fix it, PES09 in Q4.

PES on DS is quite good once you realise it has little in common with it's siblings. I also wouldn't call the PSP version a port as it was painfully obvious it couldn't handle the game properly when it first came out, so now we have a unique version for PSP that handles quite like it's big brother but is still it's own game.

....and last years PSP version is the only one I play with any regularity - the PC/PS2 ones just bored me. Played this years on 360 and was shocked how bad it was - honestly considered buying FIFA instead for the first time since.....errr 97?

Anyway, interesting to see what the PSP 08 version is going to be like - an expanded master league would be nice somewhere along the line, never mind fixing all the crap bits that we have been asking to be fixed since PES1!

Did they fix the camera since the first version of pes psp? It was always too close. I've not been back since.

Yes but Thierry Henry actually won the premier league, twice! An incredible concept I know. He also won the Golden Boot a few times as well! Good to see Liverpool fans demonstrating their famed level-headedness and sensibility.

I was under the impression the PSP version was already out, I saw it advertised in a catalogue.

@ulov3: "And honestly it is about time to call the Master League "Boring League", we can't take it anymore SeaBass."

You mean the only part of the game that a lot of us come back to play?!? Take that out, and there is no way I'm buying it!

So, in other words, still no online play on PSP...

    Sort it out Konami...

PES6 on DS was horrible, so why did that get online play?

Anyone think that Konami should've done a more PESish version of ISS for the DS? Anyone?

    Man. Anyone here *remember* ISS?

@ulov3 "I want a new refreshing master league, with 3 real divisions ad a realistic transfer market with real money and maybe an on line master league. As it is now i can't take it anymore. "

Ahh, then I totally agree with you! Being able to leave one team and move to another without having to restart the game would be nice too. But hey, they cant have had that long to develop it, I mean the master league only first appeared as a concept in........oh. Oh Dear.......
