Panel De Pon for DS

Out in Japan in April.

Nintendo Japan has said that classic puzzler Panel De Pon will be heading to Japanese DS owners in April (providing they pay for it, obviously), although there's no news on an American or European release.

It has been developed by Intelligent Systems, according to Famitsu magazine, and will mould classic Tetris-like puzzling onto the handheld's stylus-based approach.

Wi-Fi support for up to four humans is in, as reportedly is the inclusion of voice chat, which would be a bit of a boon and gift-wrap you ideal opportunities to make your opponents blunder by bellowing things like "grudge-pump" or "put your laces through it".

Not played Panel De Pon? Then get yourself to the nearest airport, where you'll discover it making up part of one of those random aeroplane companies' in-flight entertainment systems can't remember which one gotta go sorry.

This is basically Tetris Attack but with fairies instead of Yoshi's island cast, right?

DS doesn't have region locking right? It'd only be illegal to import this, right?

Man I'll have to get another one when I can afford it. I gave the last one away as a wedding present. Plus all the games. Maybe I was a bit hasty.

Yes!!!! My already superhuman speeds on this game will get even faster on the touch screen. I have sweet memories playing against my brother, sending 12+ chains back and forth, the SNES juddering to a halt, knowing one slip would mean game over.

God, I loved this game - sod Tetris Attack, you had to play it in the original Panel de Pon form so you could hear the fairies yelping.

a version of Panel de Pon was released on the GBA as "Puzzle League" in a 2-pack with Dr. Mario - I suspect if this version ever makes it to the US or Europe, it'll have that name.

Panel de Pon! Yeah! I've played this game as Tetris Attack and I had so much fun with it. Definitely my favourite puzzle game ever, beating even Tetris.

Shame they ditched the characters. Where are the fairies? It seems kinda soulless now. Oh well, the gameplay still shines through.
