PAL Gundam Musou demo soon

Dynasty Warriors combo funs.

KOEI has told Eurogamer that the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam demo that popped up on PlayStation Network in the US today will be released on our version of the store in due course.

"We're just localising it for PAL at the moment," a spokesperson told us. Apparently Sony's quite particular about that sort of thing. At the moment the only way to get the single-player demo is to be American or to perform some clever backdoor shenanigans that we couldn't possibly comment on.

Should you manage it, you'll probably discover it's rather good, as we did when we picked it apart on impact in our amazingly named Gundam Musou PS3 import review. Take that, Google.

It's one of the most successful PlayStation 3 titles in Japan to date, according to the people who made it, which is probably why we've got Namco Bandai's Makoto Iwai describing it as "one of the most successful PlayStation 3 titles in Japan to date". It even topped the Japanese charts there when it first came out.

Perhaps the key to its success is the brilliant combination of two massively popular brands. That's certainly the impression we got from the demo press release, and indeed our own review, which declares that it's a "brilliant combination of two massively popular brands". [Enough -Ed].

Moreover, we declared that it's a "clever blend of strategy and bombastic button-bashing". Cheers then. Wordsworth.

It's been up for a while now. I played it, found it to be a clunkier and more awkward version of Dynasty Warriors, and then deleted it. Not for me.

Oh jeez whenever i see musou in the title of any game, i automatically think.

    "The Repeatedly pressing square game"

You can get through the entire demo level using one combo (the one that's two or three hits and then you shoot lasers in two different direction) and your special attack when it's charged. I did it.

Played the demo and loved it. Never played a Dynasty Warriors game though. It's rather simplistic (at least in this brief demo) but the Gundam setting has a certain charm.

    It is very craptacular actually.

every time I see Gundam Musou I think of soup...

The one thing that bugs me about this is the bloody name. "Dynasty Warriors Gundam"? Why didn't they just call it "Gundam Warriors"?

Because they wanted to cash in on the DW brand?

Played the demo today, and not only was it visually lacking but it was extremely dull. I'll pass.

It seems like i'm probably the only person who quite enjoyed this demo.

Yes its a long way from the best looking game on the system and the combat is quite shallow, but its still quite fun slaughtering your way through large crowds of robots.

I doubt i will buy it at full price, but i might pick it up for a bit of fun at some point down the line.

I love this game! Unfortunately it's on normal difficulty on the demo but it's enough to confirm it still has that Dynasty Warriors goodness:-)

I really don't know why people who don't like the DW or SW series even bother downloading the demo. If you don't 'get' them you aren't going to 'get' this.

But I do like Dynasty Warriors. This was just a bad version of it with giant robots and clunky controls.
  • Scimarad #13 5 years ago

I really don't get that - They only thing that seemed to be different is the lack of a block key. And since when in any sane universe are giant robots considered a bad thing? :-)

I quite enjoyed this one, and I am not particular to Gundam games. It is a tad repetitive sometimes but overall rather enjoyable.

Ugh. Terrible demo. Crowded button mashers can be fun (see God of War) with a bit of effort in the animation and fighting system, but this? What, 2 whole moves? 3? Plus a special flamethrower every so often? Enemies that crowd around, but patiently wait to be bludgeoned to death with maybe a hit attempt every 3 or 4 seconds. Dynasty Wars: Fish In a Barrel coming soon.

I'm so sick of saying this - That is why you have to put the game on HARD. Totally transforms a 'warriors' game...

Tried the demo from the US Store... left me very unimpressed. Also I expect graphics to be better than a PS2 game in HD which it wasn't.

Maybe the game is better and prettier later on, but the demo didn't motivate me to give the game a chance at retail, sorry.
