Star Fox DS renamed

US version due in August.

Nintendo's new Star Fox game for DS is to be called Star Fox Command - and is due out on August 28th across the pond.

Fox, Peppy and all the other annoying little gits Namco tried to ruin will be back in the sky in a touch-sensitive version of the classic shooter that features eight-player wireless gameplay as well as four-player Wi-Fi Connection support.

According to Nintendo's official website, Star Fox Command will use the touch-screen to allow players to plot courses for their team-mates thanks to a new strategic element - where it's more about taking over bases and advancing across a map than simply shooting at stuff.

More on Star Fox Command closer to release. Check out shots and a trailer in the meantime.

    Can't wait. Need a date for Zelda Phantom Hourglass too. Along with FFIII definately make my DS most wanted list

    Pardon me?! Star Fox Adventures was a great game! Not as good as Lylat Wars I know. But a good game nonetheless.

    I've lost respect for you too. Too say a game is awful that you haven't even judged yourself.

    Shame on you. ;_;

    Razz, don't worry you're not alone. I enjoyed Star Fox Adventures too! OK no Lylat Wars, but it wasn't meant to be either. Star Fox: Assault however was very very poor.

    Can't wait for Star Fox on the DS....one of the best announcements at E3

    Exactly. Kind of came out nowhere! :)

    I loved Star Fox Adventures as well.

    Never got around to playing Star Fox Assault though as it was one of the later cube releases which means it is still full price everywhere.

    I've already confessed my shameful love for Starfox Adventures on the forum many times. I _know_ all the critics are right about the game, but I've always got room for not-too-taxing pretty-looking game that I can rattle through on evenings after I've had a smoke with my mates (hence why I can see myself picking up Kameo if I ever get a 360). Sometimes something like RE4 (to pick a random example of a universally-acclaimed game) is, for all its brilliance, just a bit much.

    So yeah, I'm with Razz on this one, although maybe not for the same reasons.

    Why is everyone comparing it with Adventures? Surely its going to be more like Starfox Assault, Built with fun frantic multiplayer in mind. Its pretty obvious that they're saving their 'on rails' Starfox for the Wii.

    I don't think people are comparing, just taking issue with the article's slating of Star Fox Adventures.

    Another cool game with online play? Nintendo DS is pissing shit all over the PSP!
