Football Manager demo plan News

PC News by Tom Bramwell

23 September, 2006

Sports Interactive plans to release a demo of Football Manager 2007 next Sunday, 1st October, for PC, Mac and Intel Mac.

The news was picked up by our dull and Internet-bound-on-a-Saturday-night eyes via a forum post, in which the developer also elaborates on the demo's contents:

"The vanilla version will include the English and Scottish quickstarts, and English language only, with limited assets (logos and player pictures etc).

"This will be available from the News Of The World's website in conjunction with Play.com, to try and maximise the bandwidth available. The link to this will, of course, be on sigames.com when it's released at midnight.

"The strawberry version will include extra quickstarts, and extra languages (to be confirmed), with more assets. This will be available initially as a torrent only, also at midnight, from www.sigames.com."

The reason for the News of the World thing, apart from Miles Jacobson's desire to burn in the flames of hell, is to ensure maximum exposure.

Naturally we'll remind you about it once it's up. In the meantime, head over to the Sports Interactive forums for more information and lively debate. For example, about how Liverpool crushed Spurs today.

Crushed them.

Football Manager 2007 will be available in "as many territories as possible" on 20th October.

"dedication!"

It's what you need if you want to be a record breaker.

Yeah I'm hoping for a 360 demo as well. I seem to actually prefer the console version. Please don't crucify me.

We'd love to do a 360 demo, and are talking to MS about being allowed to do one.

I've been slating Footie Man team for a while, not doing enough for each version blah blah but for once I can say I'm very impressed with what I've read for FM2007. Well done SI! Almost impossible for anyone to compete for the next two seasons at least.

as above though, this version looks like it might finally be getting close to being worthy of its hype.

Imma - the News of the World is a completely seperate entity to the Sun, in the same way as the Times, Sky, Myspace, Fox, the Scottish Sun etc all are. The only thing they share is the same owner.

Miles, sorry - you are perfectly correct and hence I've removed my comment altogether.

I always considered the News of the World to just be the "Sunday Sun" so its just a personal association I guess I was making. And googled to be sure and there's no "ban" relating to that paper like there is the Sun, so just getting my wires crossed there ...

Now, looking forward to trying this demo this weekend.

Any word on that 360 demo. It is how I decide to buy all my Xbox 360 games these days.

Not sure if I really want you to put it on there. I will get addicted again. Its been a few years since I've got into it, the 3d pitch never really did it for me. 00/01 was the most significant game I've ever played
