Faces of War demo

Cross-genre WWII action.

Ukrainian studio Best Way has released a demo of its cross-genre World War II title Faces of War, featuring a pair of single-player missions to try out.

Faces of War is a mixture of tactical strategy and direct-control action, similar to Best Way's previous effort, the Codemasters-published Soldiers: Heroes of World War II.

Unlike a lot of its contemporaries, Faces of War is a freeform kind of game, which plonks you in a level with a global objective and then allows you to use the various tools at your disposal to affect resolution in the manner that best suits your own tactical nous.

We were quite impressed with it when we took a look at the turn of the year, as you'll know if you read our preview.

The full game's due to be published by Ubisoft later this year.

Funny, I read it 'Feces of War' the first several times. Then I looked at the screenshot and seeing a liberal splattering of nameless brown objects, wasn't so surprised.

As a WWII buff I found this demo to be excellent. Well worth the download. Huge battles. Great destruction and physics. Big improvement on Soldiers : Heroes of WWII. Graphics engine far better and better optimised. Very pleasant surprise.
