LittleBigPlanet demo this week News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

7 September, 2009

Sony has announced that a LittleBigPlanet demo will finally grace the PlayStation Store this Thursday.

On offer are a "handful" of levels including user-creations to play, plus a chance to customise your Sackboy with stickers and things, according to the US PS blog.

The demo coincides with a Game of the Year Edition of LittleBigPlanet, which launches tomorrow across the US. There's no word on a European release.

The GOTY version includes some bonus levels plus an invite to the ModNation Racers beta. And ModNation Racers looks very good indeed.

Finally granted my kids network access on PSN. Both have turned into level creating demons. This is where LBP comes into its own. It makes me wish I had tonnes of time to waste on it too :)

About bloody time. I've been tentative about picking this up until trying it out.

Just got all excited thinking this might be a PSP demo (that'll teach me to ignore the PS3 icon!). They should make LBP mandatory with every PS3 sold. They pretty much do seeing as you can get it for £10.99 from Amazon.co.uk.

you can pick this up for less than £10 these days, which i did. i found the game to be very cleverly made, but it felt boring and some what outdated. i did only stick to the SP though and never bothered with the level creater. the game was not the next mario sony were hoping for or the long tail type game either, as prices were discounted massively within months. anyway to go mass market the level creater tools will have to be a lot more user friendly, with only the seriously dedicated getting half decent results

@donnie080208: I used to feel the same way, but then recently I tried it 2UP with my girlfriend and found the game completely transformed. We completed it and had an absolute blast the whole way through.

Very nice Sony, release a demo for a game a year *after* it comes out!

jk, but seriously, you can buy this game for like a fiver or something these days. That's less than your lunch!

Surely a PSP demo would be more timely?

Sony just sold like a billion ps3 slims... this is perfect timing to grab new players for the GOTY edition.

Better late than never I suppose. Looking forward to the addition of water to the game mechanic.
Get to build a nice jet powered boat. :)

@donnie080208, That's what I thought too. It's very charming and it makes you smile but I got bored after a couple of days. I did get MGS4 in the post though halfway through playing it :)

You spend £5+ on your lunch? You need a visit from the gastronomics economics team. They could save you a ton of money.

Not necessarily. The demo coincides with the Slim release which will encourage new comers to the PS3 to buy the game. Also goes nicely with the GOTY edition. Good move in a way but I would've loved to see the demo a year ago.

Edit: And the Platinum release. :P
