Konami reveals "terrifying" Wii game

Calling to dial-in next year.

Konami has announced a new Wii game that claims to bring "new heights to the horror genre".

Dubbed Calling and due next year, its hook comes from the Wiimote doubling as a mobile phone, through which a ghostly voice speaks.

The story is wrapped around the Page of Black urban legend, where anyone who looks upon the creepy website slips into a coma and eventually dies. This coma takes the unfortunates to a limbo universe known as Border, where spooky spirits roam.

The meat of the game involves exploring Border and solving the puzzles within to escape.

The first Calling screenshots paint a rather unsettling picture.

Can't say the screenshots get me overly excited.

Why'd Shadow of Memories have to fail?
Come on Konami! Make another one on this generation.
    Such a wonderful concept.

What's this topic about again? Oh "terrifying" Wii game, got plenty of them cheers.

Edit: I have just decided to take it upon myself to troll every Konami thread I see until they make another one, or, until whichever site I'm on bans me!
Though I'll leave GT alone, but you ain't safe EG!

    Mwahahaha...

Reminds me a lot of Fatal Frame by the pics even though ofc with a Wii I imagine that even if it was a Fatal Frame for it it would still be a different experience one way or the other. The thing is that the pics leave a weird opinion about it. Games of the kind are the best when it comes to judging by videos THE LEAST if not playing it yourself to see if you can get sucked into it and/or scared the least by it..

Wouldn't just go buy a Wii for it alone ofc but still hope for the Wii owners that it would actually make me even jealous. At least if it's half as good as they say and brings any kind of new standards in the genre would hopefully motivate some more of the kind pop out for the rest of us on other platforms ( + PC )... Haven't enjoyed a scary game ever since the first Fatal Frame and the first Silent Hill and im a huge fun of the kind even in movies. Just tend to make me laugh my ass of in their effort :S Don't even know if this is funny or sad actually.

Some times seems like the genre is dying or something. Good luck with this one Wowners... I'll still be interested to see some ingame footage of this one :)

I hope it sells a tonne and the Nintendo bastard responsible for Project Zero 4 not making it over here has to cut a finger off in apology.

Yes, it looks very much like Project Zero. Which can only be good.

BTW, I'm actually contemplating importing PZ4 from Japan and getting a Wii just for that one game... Surely, I'll play other games once I have it, but this is probably my strongest motivation.

Horror games seem to be in a dreadful state at the moment. Being an XBOX 360 owner doesn't help. You've pretty much got the choice of Condemned or relying on older pre-X360 games.

Perhaps this will turn out to be the third good game I buy for my Wii - and the second good game I buy for my Wii.
