Kojima reveals Monster Hunter crossover

PSP game to star Felyne as well as Snake.

Forthcoming PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will feature characters from the Monster Hunter series, including mascot Felyne.

News of the crossover emerged via Famitsu magazine, which reported that creatures such as the Tigrex and Velociprey will appear in the game.

MGS creator Hideo Kojima confirmed the plans at a press conference in Tokyo. According to Andriasang a video of Snake fighting some familiar enemies was shown, accompanied by Monster Hunter background music. "It looks like Monster Hunter, but with Snake," apparently.

Kojima will embark on a world tour to mark the release of Peace Walker, beginning when the game is released in Japan on 29th April. A European launch will follow on 18th June.

This may just have moved this game from 'may get' to 'must have'.

Maybe I lack the foresight to see how this works, hiding in a cardboard box Vs a Tygerx?!? the controls for mgs are too clunky for fighting MH, my psp would end up embedded in a wall. I aint gonna write it off just yet, just doubt it will work very well or at least the way I imagine it.

Killing a tigrex with a rocket launcher must feel good..

But I hope you can CQC it.

Such violence CaoSlayer! Surely we can capture it using the tranquilizer gun?

I've already captured it using tranq S...

What is it with people and cats? Do they dream that they're cats? With a tail and a hair and fangs and heavy breath? Pointy ears and eyes like slits? .... hey that sounds pretty cool actually.

Shit I'm one of them now! KILL MEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOW!

Jaw on floor. I'm so utterly stunned by this I can't actually get excited yet. I was really looking forward to Peace Walker anyway, having spent months on Portable Ops but now... Holy sweet mother o'bejeezus with chips.

This has to be the best genre crossover in gaming history. If you ignore the obvious pants-on-head lunacy it's actually an excellent fit.

I wonder if it'll go deeper than just "kill a few of the bigger wyverns on a beach" and have team stealth hunting?

Sold! Not only the Monster Hunter thing (which is brilliant!) but it's cool to have the chance to play a new MGS game without all the stupid disc installs. MGS4 was brilliant, but half way through chapter 3 I fancied playing the boss encounter at the end of chapter 2...disc install needed. I part exed the game the very next day...I can't believe they fucked that aspect of the game up that badly.

Those kind of disk installs are unlikely as this a PSP game.

Maybe a full download or data buffer type thing, both of can only help. Actually, HOPEFULLY a download as my current PSP is a 'Go.
