King of Fighters XII still for August

Euro date a month after new US one.

Ignition Entertainment has told Eurogamer that King of Fighters XII is still set for European release on 28th August despite an earlier US launch.

As reported on the game's Twitter, KOFXII will arrive on US shelves on 28th July.

Seems a shame to wait - we're keen to see how the game's hand-drawn 2D approach and 15th-anniversary billing do at the difficult job of usurping Street Fighter IV.

Look out for our review soon - hopefully just after the US release.

    I heard it has less combos and moves.

    @seamonster

    Ehm, maybe they could make an entry portal for different regions, you know, like shooters do sometimes?
    And if the Fantasia online was dead that must mean that the EU version din't sell at all, cause they would be online by time of release here I think. I think it's dead cause everyone is playing SFIV imo.

    Is BlazBlue coming out over here? And when? Cause I want that one over this. But I may have to import.

    Probably wont make much of an impact, reviews of the arcade version are bad and the console reviews so far say Netcode is worse than Soul Calibur 4.

    What on earth is up with BlazBlue anyway? A pretty rabbid response from people not normally interested in Anime style games and a very hot market for fighters, the publisher wont even announce that they are publishing it. Not only that. They only have 2 months to get it out before Tekken 6 in September. Its mind boggling incompetence of the worst kind .

    I couldn't care less about Tekken 6, it looks terrible (designwise) and gameplay hasn't evolved since 3.

    I'll be checking out playasia to see if it's region free, as soon as it's released in the US.

    A great summary of BlazBlue (and other games) here:

    Are there any "full size" screenshots floating around of this game? The videos I've seen look sorely disappointing in the graphics department and I'm having a bit of a hard time believing particularly aliasing on the characters should be so prominent on 2D art in HD, so I'm sort of hoping it's just down to shitty video encoding?

    @ menage :: After many rumours that it wont even be released in Europe, I imported it (Ebay ftw!). Though I'm still waiting for it to arrive. :(

    @ Miths :: I've read somewhere that the aliasing is something they put in there intentionally... Saying something like its part of the "style" of the game or something.

    This game I care not so much for, I played it a bit over at TGS last year and I wasn't really impressed.

    Dang typos!
    Edit again... BB actually just arrived! Whee! :D

    wtf, that sucks! why do we have to wait... -_-

    I'm just gonna get on import for PS3 or 360. Ordered Blazblue as it still hasn't been confirmed for UK release. KOF has always been better then SF. I think SNK 2d beat-ups were always superior and deeper to most of Capcom games (which is more about button mashing). Only SF 3 was a more tactical game, and the best from SF series. SF IV was just a button masher that did not have any atmosphere, due to it's cartoon look.

    KOF will remain true 2d not this silly zooming in/out up/down silly2.5d. The graphics look a lot more detailed and more complete to gameplay in 2d then any 3d and silly 2.5d - just look at the finishing moves in SF 3 compared to SF IV...SF 3 looked and felt better in 2d, rather then SF IV camera changes - which took away the impact.

    So no hope for PC then? Not even on Linux?

    I was never really a big fan of Guilty Gear - always thought the characters where a bit to strange a to enjoy to master!...Bought it as I do miss all those 2d beat-em ups and that there's nothing except Blazblue at moment (Though has received many good reviews)...I've personally always preferred depth rather then button mashing fighting games (I hated Soul Calbuir); I found that SF IV didn't have the timing or skill needed as in SF 3, also the graphics did not have the atmosphere or charm that 2d in SF 3 still has. Check this - the reason 2d and skill from SF IV in 2.5d can never match SF 3 2d(or KOF)!

    KOF does have depth and skill required, and always seems more tense the fights compared to SF - which is basically are same moves for most characters with odd special move changed.
  • menage #14 3 years ago

    Meh, maybe it lacks a little depth but I'd rather have fun with some fiends and beers instead of being sober and stressed out:p
  • mens_rea #15 3 years ago

    @Zanuah

    Playing any fighting game for merely 'a bit' at a trade show cannot revel much about its quality I feel - give KOF XII another go when it comes out and you might change your mind. SNK games are tough to get into, but once you do get into them..... there's no going back! :D (to rubbish like Street Fighter :p)
  • TRUTH #16 3 years ago

    I personally liked SF then started to play KOF; which took a little time to get into due to the simplicity of SF (though very limited in moves) - but once you understand the depth, moves, counters and special attacks - KOF knocks SF in every area. SF is way overrated, esp SF IV.
