Hidden option in Bionic Commando demo News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

7 May, 2009

Capcom has highlighted the fact that there's a private match option lurking in the Xbox 360-exclusive Bionic Commando multiplayer demo released last week.

Sounds a bit boring, but it's relevant if you're struggling to get your head around the swing mechanic, because it means you can practice without being killed repeatedly.

According to the Capcom blog, you should go to the options screen (press start on the main menu), then get a friend to send you an invite and accept it, and say no when it asks if you want to exit your current game.

This deposits you on a private match screen, although Capcom says you shouldn't mess with the game mode or frag limit options or it will crash the demo.

Bionic Commando is due out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 22nd May, with a PC version set to follow in July. Check out our most recent hands-on preview to see how it's shaping up in single-player.

Multiplayer was perhaps not the best demo experience one could have got of this. It wasn't the greatest fun...

Secret option?

Bug more like.

Handy though, I downloaded the demo and then deleted it when I found it was online only.

Didn't even know the demo was out.......Man I've been working too hard!

Edit: By the way I did say that the multiplayer didn't look like it was fun at all when I saw those multiplayer movies. Some of the comments on here seem to be backing that observation up. I was hoped to be proved wrong...oh well ho hum as they say.

"MP rocks if you can actually play it."

That doesn't exactly sound like a glowing recommendation.

What I mean to say is that if you stick with it, and don't switch it off because "it's fiddly" or whatever, you can have awesome fun with it. The game just takes a little more practice than most.

Fair enough. I'll give the demo another go, and maybe try out the "special" option first before getting owned by everybody and their dog.
