Godfather II date nailed down

Mobster-themed sequel arriving in February.

EA has narrowed down its previous prediction of February for Godfather II's arrival, confirming it'll be released in Europe on the 27th. US gamers will get it three days earlier.

Godfather II is in development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It didn't particularly thrill us when we previewed it, but we were at least pretty convinced that there'd be improvements over the original.

The February release puts it a good few months ahead of the Autumn projections for rival mob-sim Mafia II, just in case your bat-wielding muscles are getting slack.

    Still think the graphics in this look a bit ropey. Still, maybe the gameplay will make up for it...

    Bugger... Loved the first one, but I'll be buyin KZ2 then. Hmmm, can I make time for two games in one weekend?

    The first one on the wii is a real gem of a title

    might be tempted in this one if the scores are good and the price is good :)

    Shit the bed! The first one came out on the Wii?? I dread to think what the graphics were like on that one! i played the PS3 'don's edition' version which was supposed to be graphically spruced up and that looked utterly pants.

    I'm surprised this is so near release yet there seems to have been next to no hype for it. I didn't play the first one but I'm a bit jaded with the sub-genre as a whole, and will probably only bother with Infamous next year.

    @ angerisagift: The Wii version ("Black Hand Edition";) was far and away the best version of the game. It was a huge example of how developers ought to be using the Wii controls to improve gameplay instead of gimmick it up. Unfortunately I don't think it sold very well and it's difficult to find a copy these days. Makes me disappointed there's no Wii version for the sequel - probably a decision based purely on poor sales of Blackhand. Having played it, I'm not sure I'll be checking out the sequel as I don't see how it could be as much fun without the controls.

    Hmmmm, the first was OK I guess, couldn't be bothered to finish it though. I'm tempted with the sequel as I LOVE The Godfather movies but I may need a demo this time around before I hand over cash or maybe kill some babies...er sorry..get it cheap 2nd hand - well it's the same thing isn't it? The industry says so.

    I don't get why this looks so rough, when it's on the same engine as Dead Space!

    >Hmmmm, the first was OK I guess, couldn't be bothered to finish it though

    I struggled to finish it - despite enjoying it.

    But I *STILL* played it more than gta4 before getting bored!

    @PameBoy: +1

    Dunno if I enjoyed it because it was good or because of the superior wii controls.. Long time ago since i played it.. Seem to remember pointing at the screen to shoot working REALLY well in the game though..
