Gears 2 leads Microsoft E3 charge

Plus Halo Wars finally on show.

Microsoft plans to give us a look at Halo Wars during the upcoming July E3 event, as well as reveal more about headline-grabber Gears of War 2.

First-party stalwart Fable 2 will also be there, and hopefully playable, alongside the freshly-unveiled Rare games Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

Rounding off the pile will be Too Human, according to IGN.

But what about Alan Wake, Microsoft? And what is Peter Jackson actually making out of Halo?

Let's hope it has some surprises planned for its conference.

The E3 Media & Business Summit takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Centre from 15th to 17th July, and Microsoft's press conference is on the 14th. We will be there doing live coverage as ever.

well sources say that MS have something "interesting, partly spectacular and a bit desperate." planned for E3 according to videogames247. I'm getting my laughing strings reinforced in preparation. :)

I predict a new peripheral. Probably a pointing device.

Also Perfect Dark on Live, and more games that tie into Fable 2 (like Keystone, or whatever it's called).

    More party games.

    @Britesparc
What makes you say perfect dark on live? Do you mean the original as an arcade title?
  • Darren #5 4 years ago

It couldn't have been Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts or Fable 2 leading Microsoft's E3 charge could it... has to be bloody Gears of War 2, a game that will sell with little or no promotion on the Xbox 360 anyway because it's a known quantity and a popular genre. I do hope that Microsoft don't forget to push their other games MORE than Gears 2 as I'd hate to see the new Banjo-Kazooie and Viva Pinata games flop.

"interesting, partly spectacular and a bit desperate."

Sounds very much like this Wiimote style device is real then! I'm hoping it works with Halo Wars as an alternative to a normal pad to be honest.

    Three times a charm. :D

    @Darren

    Agreed.

GoW is the least interesting of the bunch for me. Viva and Fable both look awesome. Banjo could be cool but I need more info.
I do hope there's a surprise or 2. Like Blue Dragon 2 or something.

    @swam:

Everybody that works for Sony is gay. Their parents were all gay. Their children are all gay, and even their pets are gay.

How do you like that? That's basically how you sound. Idiot
  • Wash #11 4 years ago

Fable 2 looks teh awesome, the videos :o.

But Gears is gears. Hopefully they'll all do well enough for continuation of the series.

Hoping for a few surprises between now and the end of the year tho, in turn hoping that banjo will be great.
  • miiiguel #12 4 years ago

swam must not be banned, we need to mock lesser people. sign the petition!

    Oh dear god no.

"I'd hate to see the new Banjo-Kazooie and Viva Pinata games flop."

I'd hardly call well over 1 million sales in the first year a flop. Not a system seller but 1 million isn't too shabby. Especially if you think about a pc release in the same year, a tv franchise, a shitty port by an unknown company and 2 more sequels within 2 years.

Anyway, it is good to see that swam still desperately tries.Where would sony be without him?
  • miiiguel #14 4 years ago

"Where would sony be without him?"
its community would definetly look better.
  • rob230 #15 4 years ago

If you're playing as the 'goodies' do you think you can use a Master Chief (not the cookery show) set him off, sit back with a beer and watch him fuck everyone's shit up?

Or is he only effective when being controlled by a 12 year old with ADHD, screaming down the MIC, teabagging every dead foe and calling you gay whist making 'your mum' quips?

    /too much rebull col

Why not? I don't mean waggle the remote to send troops into battle, I just mean that it could probably do a better job of recreating the feel of mouse control. It could be good if done right. Although your arm might hurt after extended play in fairness.

    MGS4 on 360?
  • escapedape #18 4 years ago

    @swam

    Fable was far from mediocre.

What do you base your 'stated like fact' declaration about Halo Wars on? Know who Ensemble are?

GOW2 as GOW1.5? A bit like Resistance 2 then, yes?

And Microsoft losing ground to Sony? Oookaay...

By the way, how are you enjoying that Sony sponsored glass house that you live in? Careful with those stones mate.

    Ah, too late.

    @ Swam

In the various threads I've read over the last few months, you've taken great delight in inflaming people with your childish and to be truthful, mostly piss poor postings.

Whilst they can be amusing on occasion, doesn't it get tedious being stupid all the time?

I can be childish if I'm in the mood (And have been in the MGS4 launch night photo thread. But that's because the photos were hilarious...)

Whether you have 360 or PS3, just enjoy them to play bloody games. You're wasting valuable gaming time or work-based internet farting about time by flaming folk.

I like your allegiance to one particular type of metal box full of electronics. It's not like it's an inanimate object or nowt.

Oh, and one last thing. Always check da spelling before posting.

Oh dear, did he get GI'd?
  • J.C #21 4 years ago

If they announce a pointing device, i will buy it. wii style games is a good thing for the 360 imo. and FPS games will benefit as well.
  • The-Bodybuilder #22 4 years ago

    @ Darren

Seems like it's EG saying GOW2 is headlining it, but according to IGN (where they got the source from), it's too human...a game that NEEDS headlining.

  • Triggerhappytel #24 4 years ago

Actually a pretty good line-up. As time goes by I'm beginning to think I'll only get one of the PS3 or 360, so the rest of this year is probably going to be pretty crucial in making that decision.

I do hope they don't bother with any casual bollocks, though. I'd rather they use the resources in making proper games.

Also, if there's a no show for Alan Wake I'll start to think it's just vapourware. Or the next Too Human.
  • escapedape #25 4 years ago

    @ simakperrce

as a 360 owner even I feel like throwing snide comments out on a daily basis with regards to Alan Wake.

Mind you, I did see a promising trailer for it.

    In 2006.
  • HarryB #26 4 years ago

weak showing for me, only half interested in fable 2, but it's nothing major.
  • WinterSnowblind #27 4 years ago

It'll be nice to finally see something of Halo Wars, it's looking great, but I've begun to worry about it not making it out this year due to the lack of coverage. Fable 2, Banjo Kazooie and Viva Pinata all look great as well, there's too many games I need to get this year for the 360 alone.

Oh, and it's nice to see someone has finally put a stop to Swam's ridiculous comments. Even for a fanboy that was some desperate crap he was posting.

  • EmiliasHorse #29 4 years ago

Well I for one am very interested in all of these titles.
  • Amoebalove #30 4 years ago

Each to their own and all that but the game I’m looking forward the most this year on any format is Gears 2. More importantly though I think swam may have deleted his profile. God I’ll miss the crazy misguided fool!
  • Turambar #31 4 years ago

If it is a wiimote style device i'd hate to be the guy that has to get up on stage and announce it. Assuming they do an on stage announcy thing.
  • CHAZBIGPOTATO #32 4 years ago

I cant see any swam comments and I didn't ignore hime, has he been taken off? That must have been some seriously offensive shit he posted right there! It's a shame I missed it...
  • David_Snakes #33 4 years ago

I want Alan Wake. It looks good.
  • Rodney #34 4 years ago

I am really curious as to what Swam wrote now?

I have a kind of love hate thing going on with his comments
  • mazzl #35 4 years ago

damn... all goood games and i still need to get
    assasins creed
    mass efect
    halo3
    pgr4
    bioshock

i just don't have the time to play sooo many games :S
  • HardToast #36 4 years ago

pretty lame E3 list, I hope they have a few unannounced games as the future is a bit piss poor :(.
  • bitesize #37 4 years ago

aw, swam is gone? wonder if he deleted himself again (as he apparently did before) or if he was banned... the only comment from him i read in this thread was the usual bollocks - halo wars will be crap, fable 2 will be shit, gears 1.5, yadda yadda yadda. nothing actually offensive, unless he posted again after i read his first one...

gonna miss him, who are we gonna laugh at now? apologie seems to be MIA as well...
