Boasts statue of Soap for 120 quid.

GAME has unveiled to Eurogamer the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Veteran Package, an exclusive for the shop.

This costs Ł119.99 - more than double what's asked for the regular game. But the Veteran Package has a statue. Standing 12 inches tall, this replica of Captain Soap MacTavish has interchangeable weapons and arms, and can wield dual .45 caliber pistols, dual ice pick-axes and an M14 Enhanced Battle Rifle, which straps to his back when not in, er, use. There's an environmental ice base to store the alternate bits, too.

The Veteran Package also contains the Hardened Edition of MW2, which has a steel case, artbook and code to download Call of Duty Classic on PS3 and 360.

"Modern Warfare 2 is probably the most eagerly awaited game of this year and we're delighted to exclusively offer this amazing statue and collectors' edition to our customers." said GAME's Tricia Brennan.

"Fans of Modern Warfare will want to get their hands on one of these very limited statues. There are a limited number available worldwide and we are proud to offer it exclusively here in the UK."

The Veteran Package goes on sale alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on 10th November.

I've picked up the metal case editions of Prince of Persia and Bioshock in the last few months for Ł15 quid each pre-owned. Whoever pays Ł120 for this crap needs their head examined. You can get a bucket of toy soldiers for less than a tenner and it comes with a plastic sheet that acts as the battlefield.

Yes people can buy whatever they want with their own money, doesnt stop us saying that this is just going over the top with special editions. Its getting stupid now.

Of course I would rather spend that extra money on another AAA game at Xmas, so while some people are staring at their 12 inch statue, or looking through their pointless night vision goggles, I will have a second game to play If you just use that for all the different special editions, I will have lots of games to play, while some people will be stuck with a steel box and some gumph.

You would have to be a total mug to buy this. It probably costs Acti about a tenner to make the statue, and lets face it for Ł120 you are getting EXACTLY the same game at the end of the day. Pointless.

These days there are just so many LE game versions there there is just no point. Every game has 3 or 4 LE versions. There is just so much on the market that you are best off buying the normal edition as that will be the hardest to find and thus most exclusive. :/

The sad, bitter kid in me wants this game to tank so that they have to drop the price really quickly. I know it won't, but the fact that they're charging over the odds for it makes me inexplicably angry.

It'll be infinitely respawning enemies and everything's scripted and the multiplayer will be full of people who genuinely deserve to die of as-yet undiscovered tropical hemorrhaging fever diseases, and you'll like playing it and shooting people in the head with a wide range of well-modelled weaponry never gets old, but there, at the back of your mind, will be that gnawing gnome of doubt that you're quietly shitting your life away pretending to be Andy McNab.

I'm pissing vinegar because I know, with absolute certainty, that I'll buy it the day it comes out. Like a mook.

@Windypops, totally agree, its likely to be great and I'll get the standard edition but a part of me would love to see the smile wiped of the face of the Activision Execs if it got rated below 80% on Metacritic.

Not to mention all the cowardly publishers who have shelved their games to 2010 in abject fear of the Modern Warfare Dragon. Imagine all those lost xmas sales...

I need to confess that I bought the BioShock Collectors Edition for the iron cast Big Daddy statue... but I don't regret that, it looks nice on my shelf. It wasn't Ł120 though, more like Ł80... and a 12" statue of Soap McTwattish? Couldn't they chosen somebody less forgettable?

This is a bigger rip-off than the goggles. Proper NVGs cost upwards of Ł500 and that's just for crap 1st gen imports from Ukraine. Anyone who thinks they will actually be able to see in total darkness with them is in for a shock.

Now there's loads of MW2 spin-offs: dolls, night vision goggles, MW2 xboxes etc. This proves they're milking their success of the MW1 and they're going for max profit every way they know how. And the main one is raising the price under the guise of "currency exchange rates". They think we're all stupid enough to buy their expensive gimmicks, believe their lies and pay over the top rates for their games. They're making more enemies than friends.

meh, i ordered the prestige edition from hmv... but I may just end up selling it on ebay for some profit. Um... the veteren edition looks cool, but not as cool as working NVGs and a moulded head ofc ^_^ if it's metal, they MAYBE i'd be tempted.
